If you want router versatility this looks a well produced product https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ussa/multifuc...

I watched a video on it last night showing the different phases he'd gone through to produce it. I really like the end product, I just don't have a need for it. Yes I know I'm in the wrong thread for this, but someone with a need might not be aware.

I think I'm about to succumb to a Dremel-alike as I need to chop into a skirting board to take a length off and I've got nowt that will do the job.

I've had good experiences with Screwfix's own brand 'Titan' stuff so was thinking about this set which is silly cheap:

Any good - anything else I should be getting instead?

Do you have an oscillating multi tool ? That's my go to for cutting into stuff like skirting

No, I've not got anything that will do the job - what do I need?

Have a look at the Erbauer mains multi tool on Screwfix (can’t work out to post a link from the app). £80.

Will be just the job.

For some reason not clicky - but there it is

Others are available & if you've already got any cordless gear, you can just buy a bare unit (no battery)

Thanks both. It'll tackle the job after this too, by the looks of it - cutting the grout and adhesive away from some tiles that are getting loose on a bathroom surface.

a multitool is the tool you never see a point in until youve got one then its invaluable

personally I'd spend extra and get the brushless one next time, it gets a lot of use and is loud

You can do the job with a stanley knife and a good deal of patience.
Mallet and chisel?
Cutting laser?

A 'Dremeloid' is worth having IIMHO.
Personally I have 3, like you do!
A couple of cheap mains ones and a genuine Li-Ion Dremel.
Cordless is really nice.
I use them for all sorts of stuff.

There are various cordless 'rotary tools' on ebay, no personal experience , the 30-quid ones look much meatier than the 20 quid ones,

So far, I've failed to convince myself I need an oscillating multi tool.

^^this^^

A builder lent me one to cut out a notch that he saw me struggling with. I didn’t even know such a thing existed.

I bought one, a DeWalt as my other battery tools are all DeWalt and It is now one of my most useful tools.

Just to confuse matters, I bought a Dremel Multimax when they were being discontinued and sold off. I've not used it many times, but it's brilliant at the stuff it's good at.

My story is exactly the same. I knew they existed, but never really understood what they were for until I used one. I was the same with an impact driver, assuming my drill was all I needed - until I borrowed one.

Add me to that list. I was trying to cut a section from skirting board where it sat below an integrated dishwasher door. Lent a multi tool and it was a genius little thing.

I have just put up lights in the garage and about to do tiles… on looking at the lights it is plainly obvious I need a laser guide level thing to make them not look crooked as they are now, and definitely when it comes to the floor tile laying.

Going to start today, so last minute ask - any recommendations out there I can pickup today?

I don't know the brand - is it a good 'un? I notice a Bosch is same price:

That Bosch uses Starlock blades which are not the universal tool free blades, so you will be stuck with replacing with the expensive blades.
I have a Dewalt multi tool and it uses the same universal blades as the Erbauer

I don't know the Erbauer, mines De Walt 18v.

However, in addition to the above comment about non-standard blades, the Erbauer one linked is a kit that includes a starter pack of blades, sanding pads etc. The basic unit is cheaper.

The forum software can't cope with a link as the first thing in a reply - putting anything before it, even a full stop, cure the problem.

I’ve got an older version of this - works well. If you can accept the Screwfix tax it’s in stock https://www.screwfix.com/p/stanley-cubix-stht77498...
