Would never buy cheap discs. And always carry them in a tin and "tap " test them first . I also look at the direction arrow. Seen a few fitted incorrectly . These are dangerous tools for sure. But a whole world away from a table saw !

Re the 1mm cutting discs. Amazing bits of kit, I use the 'cobra' discs off eBay, cheap as hell but seem to last just as long as the screwfix equiv. when using these and flapper wheels I have a golden rule of always using a full face mask. A thick smock as well Is good. Re gloves, you have to use leather gloves if you doing a lot of cutting with the 1mm discs because the sparks are evil. Leather gloves will not unwind like woven ones, it's unlikely they will give problems. They are also essential when using flapper discs, these must be respected as they remove skin like butter.
