Gary - Which model floureon stat do you have?
Was this one

Originally for underfloor heating as it used an external temp sensor, but reprogrammed to use its internal sensor.

I also replaced my old fashioned dial thermostat with a Heatmiser. I picked one up on ebay for £25 or so. I'd been considering an all bells and whistles internet connected thermostat but as I have a fairly predictable work pattern so don't need to switch the heating on and off remotely, the return on investment would have been decades.

The only thing that the Heatmiser doesn't do which I'd like is compensate for external temperature but this feature tends to be found on very expensive thermostats and for the moment I don't think the additional savings would be worth the outlay.

For the price, the Heatmiser is hard to beat. https://www.heatmisershop.co.uk/digital-programmab...

My Heatmiser thermostats can do this.

I've got a different model Heatmiser-PRT-TS Touch screen. Does the business for us without reliance on internet, etc. 4 settings during the day, holiday & frost mode. Been in 4 years with no probs.

Would I want a thermostat whose schedule relied upon a functioning internet connection and 3rd party servers to work ?

Don't get a Tado then!
Not actually true, once programmed the Tados will continue to work with whatever programmes you set them with before the internet went down. The only issue with no internet or servers from Tado is that you cannot control or alter the programmes or settings from a device, you can however still make changes at the stat.

The basic programmable controllers ive used do as you suggest, you would just set to 15 degrees at say 0800 when you leave the house and it will maintain it.
Our plumber fitted one of these when we had our boiler changed, basic plumb centre unit but has been very good.

I looked at these for exactly the same reason as the OP last year (but haven't got round to doing anything yet...).
Are they identical to the Honeywell ones (the CM927 has 'line of text' technology, but other than that awesome innovation)?

They do look very similar I agree, couldn’t tell you if they are the same though.

And, as I am away in Manchester this weekend, I have just turned down the heating from my hotel bedroom smile

The boys won't notice, I'm sure, they will just have to put a jumper on.
