Is that Octopus? (I'm guessing from the night rate as I don't think bulb offered that?)

I had the same email, and I’m sure it said somewhere that Octopus and Bulb would have the same rates.

Yes, had that Bulb mail today.

The increased standing charge, with energy prices falling is a funny thing.

Standing charges have little to do with energy prices.

Correct all about claw back of costs from failed energy companies biggrin

Scottish Power

Day rate and night rate are the same because I still have an E7 meter (dropping E7 saved me £200 a year)

I understand that, I also am aware they increased them to cover the costs of bailing out failed energy suppliers, but to raise them again now, albeit a small amount, I find strange. Giving in one hand by reducing energy charge, taking on the other by raising the standing charge, seems pointless.

Oh wow, the night rate has eluded me then, thanks for the insight.

Been moved over today.

Logged into site and no meter readings showing.

Does it take a day or two for them to catch up ?

Had the email, switched over today, inevitable, but still a shame, had no issues with Bulb whatsoever, hopefully the same with octopus going forward.

I was with bulb up until we moved out of our place 5 weeks ago. New house is finally ready so do I resign up with bulb or just go straight to Octopus?

I don't think you can sign up with Bulb - I can't see tarifs or where to get a quote on the website now.

Yeah you’re right. I had a rejoin link when the account was closed but it just points you to Octopus.

After the earlier post about night tariffs I made an enquiry with bulb to try and find out what the prices might be for me so I could compare with my current plan, I ended up giving up as the lady responding to my emails couldn't grasp the concept that I just wanted the prices, she kept saying things like "we do not know how much you will save because we don't know how many things you use at night".

Trying to tell her I was planning to shift some items to run in the night if the cost meant if was worthwhile was completely lost on here and my attempts to just get basic tariff info failed miserably. Hopefully something I can discuss with Octopus if they ever shift me over and things are a bit more transparent.

Standing charge: 40.65p/day (£148.36/year)

I think the tapeworm was trying to find out what his night tariff would be if he switched to a 2 rate tariff.

My rate is listed above but as everyone's rates vary around the country its probably not much use - also the hours may vary depending on where you are and what meter you have. Mine is 1.30am to 8.30am.

I'm trying to figure out if there's anything I could move to the night rate but other than the dishwasher I'm struggling. We usually stick a load of washing on at about 7am so thats covered.
