For those with a Smart Meter, how often are bulb deducting money from your balance?

I thought the whole point was that each month they would deduct the actual amount used. (Obviously you'd still over-pay in the summer months ready to have money available for extra usage in the winter).

I had a Smart meter fitted in May, and since then nothing has been deducted from my balance which is currently up to £1046.

Why not get in touch with Bulb?

I still get a monthly fixed direct debit. Nothing changed when the smart meter was fitted, except the account shows "energy used" monthly too.

I did via e-mail. Still no response.

Saw this thread so thought I'd see what was 'normal' for other customers.

I am prepared to be flamed over this, but why do people let themselves get in such a pickle over their meter readings (or lack of them) and being in credit/debit for so much? Surely it is easy enough to submit readings yourself (smart meters or not) and adjust your payments accordingly?

Once you get a smart meter the ability to submit meter readings is removed from the website and app.

I definitely don’t have the option to submit readings, but then that irrelevant in my case anyway.

My account is showing automatic readings uploaded (4 per month), it’s just that no money has been deducted from my balance since May.

So why leave it till now?

Because I’ve never felt the need to regularly log into my energy account. There shouldn’t be any need to if you’re already reasonably confident that your direct debit amount is in the right ball park.

I just happened to idly log in the other day and noticed how high the balance had got.

Things I would rather be doing then fetching the gas box key and going outside to get a reading, then going to the leccy meter and getting that one. Then logging in and submitting. Yes I get the unexpected bill amount due to this but not an issue.

Don't want a smart meter. The less needless tech around me, the better.

Quite happy with a smart meter, take readings most months but not all. Just tipping into debt now but expecting to be out of it again by April!

Not really all about price though, customer service/care must feature too IMHO. We switched from Npower..they must be the worst company on the planet, total shambles and caused us so much unnecessary stress. Life is so much easier with Bulb!!

10% saving, and back to one of the big six whose service was just as good.
