Not really all about price though, customer service/care must feature too IMHO. We switched from Npower..they must be the worst company on the planet, total shambles and caused us so much unnecessary stress. Life is so much easier with Bulb!!
I'm really sure there's that much customer service when it comes to gas and electric. They just provide it and I pay for it. Having said that, I used to be with Sainsburys (which is just BG) and they did struggle to even ask me for an opening reading and then got my bill wrong.

10% saving, and back to one of the big six whose service was just as good.
The Meerkat has just listed loads of cheaper companies for me. The best one is £160 a year cheaper. Hmmm. could be time to change methinks.

You would think so, but Npowwer just got everything so wrong and none of their departments seem to communicate with others, and their billing system is a work of fiction. Anybody thinking of going anywhere near them please dont. Check out posts on their Facebook page if you need more info. Someone who is not a customer received a huge bill and the first question they asked is "what is your customer number so we can look into it"....what part of him not being their customer was difficult for them?

Have they put prices up or what? We pay £71 a month which was worked out to pay correct amount for how much we use over a long history. Now they have sent email to say we use on average £88 a month so need to increase our monthly amount.

Our usage hasn’t increased so have the tickets done the usual and increased all the charges? Anyone else had this?

ThTs an extra 200 quid a year which is probably
what we saved by moving from eon or whoever. s

They’ve actually suggested I reduce my monthly payments smile

No price hikes that I’m aware of - sure you haven’t been using the heating like buggery over the last few weeks wink

Can you look at your previous bills to see that the pricing hasn't changed? It's easy to access my old bills in the app.

I am looking forward to our bill going down now my stepson has moved into his own place; he used to be in the house all day using the oven tumble dryer etc. He's even signed up using my code so I get £50 credit from him moving, nice bonus. Every time I consider switching for a minor cost saving, I end up getting a £50 credit which tips the balance back in favour of Bulb.

Just swapped from BULB to Octopus - i may have missed the norification the gas price changed, so not sure, but Octopus was a lot cheaper per unit, and the other standing charges for gas/electricity was also similar - suffice it to say its going to save me a lot on monthly gas bills - also no exit fees.
its always worth checking every 6 months, especially if you dont have any exit fees.

Actually just checked my dec 19 against dec 18 bill, and all standing charges are the same, electricity unit rate is the same, gas unit rate has decreased.

It would appear in my case we are using less electricity, but using more gas for some reason. The overall result is higher bill. So not their fault.

Octopus might be cheaper though, I will check.

I've just checked Octopus and they came out at £13 a year cheaper in total for both. So that's not worth the effort.

It would have to be a large difference for me to switch from Bulb. I just love their no-nonsense approach to everything and single tariff.

What would you say would be a large difference ? I'm looking again now and it's coming out at £120/year if I get one of comparison sites to do it, upto about £175 if I do it myself.

No idea really..... definitely not for £10/month though.

my single paned 3 bed draughty old house with gas central heating and HW quotes said i could save £500 a year simply because of the gas unit price of bulb compare to octopus - my electricity hardly moves month to month cost wise.

i think if you have a very well insulated home and low gas usage then yeah, dont bother.

plus with no tie in fee, if its working out as rubbish, switch again....
