How much ??!!

Mine is 10600, that's a quarter of yours. Are you heating the whole terrace ?

My electric is 2900, almost half of yours.

For comparison, 3 bed detached, 25 years old. Gas boiler replaced about 6 or 7 years ago. Cavity wall insulation, loads of loft insulation, new uPVC double glazing everything done around 4 years ago.
That gas amount does seem ridiculous.

I've got a 4 bed detached, and my yearly usage figures are approximately:

Electricity: 6000 kWh
Gas: 14,000 kWh

So my electricity usage is slightly higher than thetoxicnerve, but my gas usage is still only a third of his.

These are by Bulb figures compared to Avro when I switched about 4 weeks ago. The Gas price was bulbs killer, but then it now seems they have just dropped it quite a bit (just after I changed):

Edit: Ah, that's why I could not get my Bulb figures to match what they had as my yearly projection, because their figures don't include VAT @5%, whereas Avro's do.

So my new figures/savings are now:

The key points in the email are the unit rates...

Gas prices are down from 3.500p to 2.795p per kWh. standing charge the same.

Electricity costs have increased from 13.713p to 14.198p per kWh. standing charge up from 20.444p to 22.532p per day. These numbers all include VAT.

So, as said above, look at your actual usage and apply the changes above to see your own savings.

Had an email from Bulb yesterday - gas down electric up .....
Same for me.

Gas rate down, elec rate up, elec standing order down.

Gas..........3.696p to 3.099p per kWh
Elec........14.154p to 15.291p per kWh
Elec SC..20.444p to 18.741p per day.

Should save £157 (about 10%) if held for the year.

Out last 12 months usage as of Dec 19 are:
Gas 31400 kWh £1160 to £973 saving £187
Elec 3340 kWh £473 to £511 costing £38
Elex SC is £75 to 68 saving £6

So the sums add up to within a quid, which i presume is the difference between exactly which months the took.

That does seem a lot of gas.

We used 30,000kWh in the last year, but that is a draughty Edwardian large 4 bed, 250m^2 mid way through a renovation, poor loft insulation, etc

Mine's -

Electric Rate from 14.154p to 15.291 per kWh and decreasing the standing charge from 20.444p to 18.741p per day. Apparently I can buy about 148 cherry bakewells with it so happy days I love bakewells.

I am buying a new house at the moment so plan on moving that house to Bulb to bag another bonus then I will decide what I want to do with energy etc once I am in biggrin

That's not helped me either. Bulb's childish marketing really started to cock me off. I had an email just before I switched to say I'd saved the weight of so many diplodocus's in CO2. Oh do fk off.

It's a clever piece of marketing & it it's working because we're all talking about it.

Providing a comparative image is also very useful - no-one can imagine how big 5.3 million tonnes of CO2 is but 240,000 Diplodoci is a very big pile. We use the principle quite frequently - usually it's London buses or football pitches.

It made me smile & you're boring.

It's not because I'm boring, it's because I hate this matey matey babyish language that companies use now. I know in the past language used by companies was very formal, but now it's childish.

It's like on the trains. They just used to say "This train will stop at x, y and z". Now it's "hi, today we will be travelling to x, y and z" in a fking sing-song annoying voice like in fact how people talk to babies.

And the way they write to you like they are your best chum. No, again, fk of. You are not my mate and you are not doing me a favour by proving me with gas and electric. It's a business transaction.

And I don't need to know how many bd football pitches something is or how long something is in bd London buses either because I'm not a fkwit and I understand how big or long something is units of distance and/or area.

Could be 0 if they had your meter down as imperial instead of metric that could lead to it being off.

FWIW I have a 4 bed 1930s semi and gas usage is about 15000 kWh per year.

Also I was looking at switching today and Bulb's prices are not very keen. I'm getting 2.4p/unit for Gas and 13.5p/unit for electricity offered, with a standing charge of just under 17p/day for each.

I've been with Bulb for a while now, but the e-mail yesterday prompted me to have a little check around and see what the current pricing situation is.

It has actually resulted in me leaving Bulb and moving to EDF. Even with the new reduced Bulb tariffs from April, EDF is still about £70 a year cheaper.

Been with Bulb for the last 18 months or so with no issues whatever.

However, all of the above has made me do a quick comparison and the best I could do with any company I have heard of would save me £2 per month including cashback so I can't be bothered, especially when factoring in the referral code too. Mine is www.bulb.me/davidr7899?utm_campaign=account-referr... by the way - just in case anyone fancies it!

"#"MeToo. As we don't have gas here, Bulb's electricity increase makes them uncompetitive so we're off to Yorkshire Energy.
(YE don't appear on the big-name comparison sites but are top for us c/o the MSE Cheap Energy Club).

Seems fine, but Bulb are extrapolating what you've used over winter right through the year. Obviously summer use will be much lower, but they can't see that, or haven't adjusted for it anyway.

Still seems really high for the size of property, do you have the heating on 25C all day?
