Aye, definitely need some decorations up.

Slow progress, some due to weather, some due to the fact I have to move everything about between trips to the dump and just general crap everywhere.

All the Sealey units are up but forgot take a photo before I filled that half of the garage with boxes. The last 1/3 of the garage I've cleared and cleaned the floor so I can paint it in two stages. Unfortunately it's taking ages to dry.

Almost forgot about this smile Yeah, garage is 90% done, still have a lot of clearing out to do, and some decluttering of my life in general. Also still have one corner of the garage floor to paint once I get round to moving the workbenches there.

Love that garage. But will that work bench still be free of crap all over the place in two years’ time? 😄

It will be the usual story. Slow accumulation of stuff all over it, then a blitz back to normal organisation, rinse and repeat.

Hadn't realised it had been so long since I updated this thread. Slow progress now that the initial spending spree was over but started to make some progress again. Honestly, we've just been enjoying the house and the garden as it is before moving forward with the next plans.

As expected, the garage did not remain empty for long. During the winter all the garden stuff got stored here, and owing to a lack of outdoor storage, most of the garden tools, mowers etc had to be kept in the garage as well. It looked nice for a while though!

As a result of all the stuff being stored in there I decided it was time to build out some outdoor storage space at the side of the garage. This is the 'dog run' that the previous owners had. Whilst not waterproof as such, it is now sheltered enough to build out a log store and general bits and bobs that crowd the garage most of the time.

Just in front is also a lovely sun trap for the late evening sun where we quite often sit with a firepit so decided to build out the slabs to give a more suitable place to sit.

In the background, and over the winter period the Studio got a bit of a re-arrange / upgrade in the man toys department.

I moved the desk from underneath the rather dark corner and down to the end of the room and re-jigged the amps / guitars setup.

I had my previous cheap sim rig setup here but had decided it was time to put in something a bit more serious. Enter, my christmas present to myself.

In the front, and as a stopgap until we get round to landscaping it properly I did some tidying up. Put in some naff but cheap wooden edging.

And round the back cleared up the flowerbeds and put in a bunch of perennials for the time being.

And now onwards with the big plans!

The garden at the rear of the house was always going to be a long term project just due to the size. I had some professional design work done to get a rough layout and planning but decided not to go with them for the landscaping. Deciding instead to parcel up the various parts to make it a bit more manageable financially.

First step was to get the patio with the gazebo up. The final plan will include a sheltered bbq / bar area at the back, and a pergola with outdoor dining area towards the house. This area sees the most of the afternoon to early evening sunshine (when it happens) but also needs some shelter seeing as we live in Scotland.

The gazebo has arrived but not built yet so that will be in a future update.

Next step will be to complete the hut and some shelter around the gazebo, and then get with the builders to see about replacing the back patio. While it's nice to have such a large area, and we've had some great bbq's and parties using it, the maintenance of the lockblock is just a nightmare. So it will be going and be replaced with the same Sandstone as the smaller patio.

Even nuking it with sodium hyperchlorate and sanding it properly wasn't enough to keep it free of weeds / grass.

This thread has now dropped into the 'my threads' 1680-1710 days tab, which seems like a crazy amount of time that we've been working on it. But, as always, it's never finished. Quick update on the garden progress.

Had to do some very much needed trimming of the dead wood round the garage and sides of the house.

The lads started getting the Gazebo up. Have had the 3 x sides measured up for waterproof sidings that we can roll up during summer and have shelter during the winter, and just need to grab my carpenter when he's got time to build out the BBQ hut at the back.

Started filling the woodshed with all the felled trees as well.

Found that the woodshed floor was still getting a bit damp from the rain run off from the roof so installed a bit of drainage along the back side.

And on to the next big job, lifting the old brick patio and getting ready for the new one.

They just started today, I'm still overseas so I'm going to be nosy and watch them work.
