Obviously I chose those 2 cities to prove a point. People still need to live there though. And what is it that makes me stuck up? You seem to have a real issue with this and I have no idea why.
Also where I live makes no difference to any of this, but if it helps you, I live almost 100 miles north of London and this is the closest that I have ever come to living there.
There are pockets around the country where £120k won’t get you a house, but in the main it will in / around most cities around the country. Nobody was suggesting all, the statement was “most of the country” you’ve picked the outliers at the expensive end as if to prove it is representative of the majority. It isn’t. I could have picked somewhere like Bacup in Lancs, as a very deprived area and pretended that was representative of the whole country, but didn’t. Also where I live makes no difference to any of this, but if it helps you, I live almost 100 miles north of London and this is the closest that I have ever come to living there.

Any chance you could give us an idea of where you’re from?

Why has a sensible thread gone in such a weird direction? It’s blatantly bloody obvious that many towns and cities in the UK will have a plentiful supply of £120k property as houses and that many won’t. Andnis blatantly bloody obvious which ones will be which as it will be income and income security related.
Let’s move forward out of a quagmire of silliness.

Ive just done a 5 mile search around Abingdon, all I could see was a few caravans and flats, but no houses?
The challenge a couple of pages back was a 40 mile radius. If you try that for either Oxford or Cambridge you will find houses within budget.

Yes I imagine so, but then youre an awful long way from Oxford or Cambridge.
And again. The challenge wasn’t to find a house firm£120k in a city. It was to show that there are houses at that price range in by far the majority of the country. Not all of it. By far the majority. Lindun said:

Yes. Places where you can and places where you cant.
And the whole discussion came about because one poster suggested that he didn’t believe that £120k houses existed. That’s where the whole discussion started. I have no idea what you think the debate was about.

Well as we have established, getting a house for £120k depends on where you are looking. Some areas are a no go, others are ok.
And nobody suggested otherwise. The statement was that £120k houses are available in by far the majority of the country. No matter how many times you try to change what the original debate was, it won’t alter that it was what I’ve stated. Lindun said:

Note the phrase “the majority of the country……………”

Whereabouts does a house have to be to be worth £120K?
The majority of the country has plenty of houses for £120,000Uggers said:
