Had a Vi-spring for 20:years and the boss said it had to go. Replaced with a £2.5k Relyon as the Vi-Spring was now £6k and the bed salesman said the Relyon was the quivakent. It wasn’t and they wouldn’t take it back so had to dump it and bought a Casper. I don’t like it much.

What do you expect if you are slumming it in hotels with only five stars? hehe

We had a tempur for a couple of years. Initially I thought I liked it but found after a while it was giving me terrible shoulder pain. Has to ditch it. Good for shagging though.

I find memory foam too hot. Prefer a spring one on the firm side.
Had back aches when sleeping and by chance found the cure for me... had to sleep on the floor for a couple of days.... first day my back hurt, second day no more back pains and my back seems fixed. Floor works for me! Strange but it does. I sleep on my back and sleep really well on the floor, very comfortable. Never really understood why, maybe it forces the back to a better position... don't know... one for the osteopath to discuss.

Don’t try a Savoir then. You’ll be chucking the Vi spring in the nearest skip.

Thanks to a similar thread on PH a few years back I got a John Ryan.

Chatted to them on the phone and they were very helpful.

Lying on it now. Great mattress.

I also bought from them (also after some really helpful advice on the phone) and haven't regretted it. It was the first time I'd ever spent so much on a bed but I don't regret it for one moment.

Recently bought a 13000 spring custom made Harrison mattress after years on a knackered generic high street job.

Well worth it.

I would mention that their prices are similar to Hypnos and the £1000 mattress we tested was the worst for chemical off gassing that we've tried - it really stank for 2 weeks even with the windows open all day.

The good lady her indoors bought a Tempur many moons ago. I'm a front sleeper, and it screwed my back completely. Consigned to spare bedroom where it gets a 50/50 response from guests. Best nights sleep ever vs. That's horrible.

I also find a traditional sprung mattress is better for "family duties" as I age.

The memory foam mattresses such as tempur are generally regarded as bad in the long-term, they can create curvatures and postures that are not so healthy.

The current advice is actually to find a firmer mattress.

Advice from who??

I have a temper cloud and love it although after 6 years it’s literally gone a bit saggy in the last few weeks and am investigating the warranty.

Agree it’s not for front sleepers though.

Hate buying mattresses as it’s couple of thousand and after 1 night you may find you’ve made a mistake. We have a cheap loaf mattress in the spare room which is pretty good.
