Had a Vi-spring for 20:years and the boss said it had to go. Replaced with a £2.5k Relyon as the Vi-Spring was now £6k and the bed salesman said the Relyon was the quivakent. It wasn’t and they wouldn’t take it back so had to dump it and bought a Casper. I don’t like it much.
Please consider https://www.freecycle.org out its entirely free, I am pretty sure someone could have used it and even taken if off your hands free from your home even, helps you out and someone elseWeekendrebuild said:
Vi spring all the way just ordered 4 more king size regal superb there the only bed I can sleep in now !! Slight issue when on holiday as all the beds are st even in 5star hotels in comparison. Expensive but you only live once, same excuse I always use with cars
What do you expect if you are slumming it in hotels with only five stars? I find memory foam too hot. Prefer a spring one on the firm side.
Had back aches when sleeping and by chance found the cure for me... had to sleep on the floor for a couple of days.... first day my back hurt, second day no more back pains and my back seems fixed. Floor works for me! Strange but it does. I sleep on my back and sleep really well on the floor, very comfortable. Never really understood why, maybe it forces the back to a better position... don't know... one for the osteopath to discuss.

Try John Ryan by Design. Lovely mattresses to suit most budgets.
Thanks to a similar thread on PH a few years back I got a John Ryan. Chatted to them on the phone and they were very helpful.
Lying on it now. Great mattress.

Another vote for them, really superb mattress The good lady her indoors bought a Tempur many moons ago. I'm a front sleeper, and it screwed my back completely. Consigned to spare bedroom where it gets a 50/50 response from guests. Best nights sleep ever vs. That's horrible.
I also find a traditional sprung mattress is better for "family duties" as I age.

At the risk of sounding all Mick Dundee, that's not an expensive mattress

The memory foam mattresses such as tempur are generally regarded as bad in the long-term, they can create curvatures and postures that are not so healthy.
The current advice is actually to find a firmer mattress.

Advice from who??
I have a temper cloud and love it although after 6 years it’s literally gone a bit saggy in the last few weeks and am investigating the warranty.
Agree it’s not for front sleepers though.
Hate buying mattresses as it’s couple of thousand and after 1 night you may find you’ve made a mistake. We have a cheap loaf mattress in the spare room which is pretty good.
