Then.....

You'll moan every 3 days or so that you have to go through the 'ballache' of emptying the RoboVac.... biggrin

Unless you buy the one with the docking station which has a hopper on it that fills from the robovac

I think the Eufy models that have the edging strips are worth the extra, I have a few areas in my house that my first Eufy would always get stuck, now I don't have that issue its great, you might think you won't need them but you will be surprised

Can the boundary strips be fitted under door thresholds? Or do they need to be in view on top of them? Not sure I'd like to see them so much, but hidden might be a good idea

I've just tested a spare boundary strip under a thick carpet in my dining room to check if it stopped the robot for you and it did, I don't know about under wooden or metal threshold strip but it definitely worked under the carpet, hope that helps

Thanks for testing it out, that now makes me think it might be a good idea - could place a strip under the edge of the kids bedrooms so it doesn't go in there. I wouldn't wish that task on my worst enemy hehe (Nor can I be arsed with picking bits of lego out of the collector!)

Damn, I normally steam in and buy stuff, but this one has me unsure....

EUFY 30c seems to do a decent job but has lots it’s spinning brushes a few times against a rug we have in the lounge. Gonna try the magnetic strips underneath the rug and see how it fares. It does pick up a lot on what looks like a clean tiled floor.

Neato now on offer at Amazon and not far from Eufy - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07NH3F8C6/?coliid=I36...

Is it better/worse/same as Eufy in terms of performance, as then the laser mapping makes it more compelling?

On a related note, what cordless handhelds are people using alongside? Can't decide between the Vax Blade 4 or Dyson V8 (about £80 price difference)

I’m now looking at these for Black Friday, can see Amazon have a few on today but am sure the offers will be repeated.

So for a large downstairs that’s got 3 reception rooms as well as large hallway, kitchen and utility I’m thinking one with laser mapping will likely work better than the random ones.

Here’s our floorplan:

And to give an idea of size:

Any recommendations on here from personal experience? What features do I need to look out for?
Move that wire as the hoover will swallow it!

It’s the bane of my life at the mo running an Ethernet cable upstairs now I’m working from home. Vpn ans Skype seem to hate being on the wireless.

I keep meaning to find a route to drop it down the walls but it’s a lot of effort eek

The Eufy 30C Max has been reduced to £199 on Amazon Black Friday deal, so I've gone for that.

Thanks to everyone who commented beer

I like the idea of the laser mapping as I have a large area downstairs so mapping should make it more efficient, less likely to get stuck.

everywhere else lists them as D4, D6, D7 etc but for some reason the amazon ones are D450, D650 and D750 have looked but unable to find anywhere that the difference in naming signifies and if there is any difference

Drat - I never knew I needed a robot vacuum; but I feel I'm being 'sucked' into it with this informative thread.

Resist !

You don't need one..... you need one per floor.

The Eufy 30C Max was delivered today. It picks up well, but looks like it's pissed in it's random approach! Does it learn and get a bit more efficient?

Get yourself some ethernet over power plugs. I got the Magic 2 ones from Devolo and they are ace. Fast, reliable and expandable in the fiture if you want ethernet in more rooms - just get another plug.

I’d go with a Mesh system instead personally with ethernet outputs too.
Win win

Just ordered a Eufy G30 edge after a long strategic campaign of trying to convince the wife we should get a robot vacuum, and then waiting for her to decide it was her idea before we buy one.

Eufy seemed to get a lot of praise on here, so hoping this is a decent one. Price seems good with a £90 off code that runs until the 5th I think, so £249.

Hopefully fewer surprise cat litter minefield events in the future. (Not turds, just bits of gravel kicked out over the floor)

Now, just got to think of a name for it...

We have had the G30 for around a week and it is embarrassing the amount of fine dirt/dust and dog hair it collects from just the kitchen/dining/utility (tiled floor around 70m2 used exclusively by the dogs!). Twice a day it goes on a cleaning mission and twice a day it needs emptying!

Oh, and ours is called Stewart as per the Michael McIntyre sketch.
