I see that irobot have a 20% offer. Does anyone know if the j7 is worth the extra over the i7?

I have the J7+ and it works fine. The J7 is the same but without the self emptying function I think.

BUT

I am on my second Bravva Jet M6 (the mop robot that they sell) and it doesn't map or perform anywhere near as well (as in - it won't leave the room it starts in!). If the i7 uses the same sensor tech as the bravva then I'd avoid it.

Which brings me on to iRobots customer service.... It is quite possibly the worst you will find anywhere. They really try their best to be totally useless and they do manage to achieve that aim. If you like answering the same questions again and again over the course of 2 months to then be told it's now out of it's 30 day return window, then go for one of their products. Hopefully you'll get one that works and you never need to contact them.

Thanks, not after a mopping version but maybe I should avoid iRobot if their customer service is that bad! Given what you know how, would you still have got the j7+ or gone with an alterntive company?

That's a good question. The J7+ does work really well, much better than the Eufy 30C Max that's now been demoted to the annexe. The mapping tech on it is clearly very good, it avoids all cables so no laptops get pulled to the floor etc. The floor is always spotless, so no complaints about it. But would I buy it again knowing the customer service is this bad, not so sure.

Thanks, decided to go ahead and order the J7+ with their current 25% off offer. Hopefully I won't need to use their customer service!

I have had a J7+ since the autumn offers and I think it's great! I have flipped him over a couple of times to clean underneath and that's about it.

I love how much cleaner my house is, my tip is to create a cleaning zone by the front door and do it every day, that seems to really cut down how much dirt makes it further into the house.

Thanks, good to know! Any tips on where to locate it? does it need to be based somewhere away from obsticles?

The clean base is meant to be in a relatively clear area so the bot can park. Mine is a bit closer to the sofa on one side and it works ok.

Let us know how you get on!

We have had our eufy 2 years now and i think the battery is shagged (randomly stops). I ordered a replacement battery so hopefully that fixes it. Anyone else had similar?
Swopped my battery on the Euyf and it's worked fine.

I've had the irobot j7+ for a couple of months now and have to say I am very impressed. I was concerned it may be a bit of a gimmic but actually it works really well. Use it a couple ot times a week, one where we make an effort to lift stuff and kids toys off the floor, and it does a very good job. It's mapped very well, always found itself home, and not yet got stuck on anything. The floor is noticeably cleaner as a result. We still need to wizz around the corners with a portable Dyson but that doesn't take long.

I really can't fault my one: https://www.irobot.co.uk/en_GB/irobot-roomba-s9/S9...

Pricey, obviously. But as someone whose entire ground floor is hard floor, it just works perfectly really. I spend about 5 mins or less 'prepping' the ground floor for a full clean, then set if off if I'm going to the office and come back to a perfectly hoovered house, corners and all. Being a two cat household it's so great to get rid of the build up of balls of cat hair you will always get.

I do also have the mop robot that I set off after the hoover, so it's especially nice knowing I'm coming home to a freshly hoovered and mopped house.
I am aiming to buy a second docking station for the hoover for upstairs so that the bedrooms can be hoovered, so it'll be interesting to see how effective it is on carpeted rooms, but at the moment on just the hard floored ground floor, I give it full marks.

I echo this. Mine is trouble-free after at least 6 months of weekly use. All hard floors. It hasn't even needed me to replace the bag in the 'dock'. (Small London flat, YMMV)

It has some blind spots - it can get stuck trying to navigate over sofa legs that run along the ground. (stainless steel). So I've had to put a kettle bell on the floor at each end of the sofa to scare it off.
So my floors are clean, but my muscles are diminishing.

Few years in on our uefy and its still going great. Primarily used as the kitchen floor sweeper before a mop, but it is a handy thing to leave off and get stuff done whilst cleaning around it. We have since purchased a battery powered handheld and between the two (robo and handheld) its a lot more convenient than the old corded vacuum cleaners.

I just wish the eufy had an ability to detect cables - i have an idea to hack it, but havent got around to it yet. It would be near perfect then.

Having swapped out the battery in our eufy and then got a Dyson v15 detect, the eufy hasn't been on once. :-(

Decided to set mine off today as it's warm enough to work from the garden, usually I'd be away in the office in town while the robos do their thing.

Noticed there was a fair bit of dust and general summer crap on the floors, so set them off just now. It really is great, 45 mins later the whole ground floor has been perfectly hoovered, now the mop is off doing its thing and in a couple of hours I'll have beautifully mopped floors too.

Is there any reason you didn't go for a single machine to do both vacuuming and mopping?

With a house move coming up and 300sq/m of hard flooring to look after. I'm starting to look at whats out there.

These two come as a bundle......and sometimes there's quite a lot off in their sales. Pretty much only reason (and they topped most reviews at the time)

I've got the Eufy base model and I'm super impressed. It fits under all my furniture too inc. sofa, dresser etc. I'm always amazed it gets home considering it starts in the loungs then has to get through two open doors to one room, and one door to another.

We do have to tidy cable up (phone chargers normally) before setting her off. We've called her Juanita :-)
