Tempted to get one as seen one on Amazon which looks decent and is affordable. (OKP Robot Vacuum and Mop Robotic Vacuums 2200pa).
I don’t need the mop feature just need something to help keep house free of debris. However lots of tight corners, various mats and thresholds around the house. Hence, I am not sure if this would be a good idea.
Looking for some feedback from those who have one.

I have an Eufy and it’s one of those ‘things I wish I had bought a lot earlier’; I was skeptical at first and purchased with trepidation but now I wouldn’t be without it. Even brought it out to Romania with me whilst I’m on assignment here.

Tight corners are its only downfall; all round robovacs suffer from that, but gives me an excuse to get the brush out and sweep whatever debris into its path and attack the side skirts etc at the same time. Not sure on the performance of others, but I’ve never fully used up all the battery on a single sweep of a pretty cavernous 3 bed apartment. Handles ledges (ie doesn’t go over them) with ease.

ETA wouldn’t bother with one with a mop function; most use a tiny water reservoir and just drag a piece of fabric along the ground; reviews tend to say they never actually do a good job of mopping and just leave a streaky surface everywhere.

We have an old and a new Roomba. The old one is basic but good for under beds. The new one is quite good but I don't see it as a sub for vacuuming periodically. You do want one that covers the area comprehensively, our one produces a map of where it went on each run.

It's great for keeping pet hair to a minimum smile

I've got a Roomba J7+ and while it has it's limitations (and tight corners aren't its' strong suit for sure!) overall I'd say it has been worth it - we've got quite a lot of cats being able to have the Roomba do pretty frequent runs helps massively when it comes to keeping on top of the never ending supply of fur. Especially since you can just set it going when you aren't even there! We've got hardwood floors with the occasional rug and it doesn't bat an eyelid at them - even recognising and remembering where the rugs are and treating them appropriately. There's a few small thresholds - probably 8-10mm or less and it copes ok going up and down those.

It's "smart" enough to avoid the worst hazards, "cliff" sensors mean it won't take a swan dive down the stairs, the camera means it avoids cables, errant socks etc but one more than one occasion it's managed to nudge a door shut, trapped itself in the room and then stopped in the way so you have a heck of a time trying to get the door open to rescue it. One memorable fail saw it have a complete tizzy because it couldn't find the dock 20 cm away right in front of it as the kitchen was a bit dark hehe

Cheers! I have have a look at Eufy as this looks like a popular brand. How do you find the app and the AI path finding?
I know the more expensive ones have array of sensors and can work out the best path.

Yes I have looked at Roomba and like the feature where it maps the area and works out the best path. Also love how it self charges by returning to the base. However they are a little pricey …

For my use I would prefer something smaller and agile, but also loaded with ability to map the area.

No pets here but issue with dust, crumbs and various little debris.
Flooring is mostly laminate and tiles, with occasional carpet rug.
Lots of furniture and some tight corners hence why looking at something small and agile.

I do have a Dyson cordless vacuum which is brilliant but would be great to top up with a robot vacuum.

Mine doesn't have mapping or any kind of connectivity, just the remote control. But even then, it does a great job; I just switch it on and leave it to go about its business.

It's called "bump navigation" and it's amazingly good. Basic bumber sensors and then it clearly has a handful of algorythms for what to do when "x" bumper gets hit "x" times in a row after "y" bumper got hit "x" times etc. However its written it works brilliantly well.

Keep looking at these but convincing myself I need LiDAR or similar… sounds like the bump ones are ok too.

How big are the properties people are using them for?

Ours isn’t huge but two downstairs rooms with various doors, corners, weird shapes etc

For me, the catch with Lidar, is, they don't fit under furniture, and, as far as my limited experience tells me, offer nothing significantly extra over basic random hoovering.

I'm using a bump-nav hoover for three downstairs rooms, one off a convoluted coridoor, and it manages just fine.

Eufy 30C here. 80sq m. Mostly hard floor but a large rug in living room area. No problems after 3 years daily use. Runs about 80-90 minutes a day (takes Saturdays off though).

My wife got FOMO when she saw that the Roborock S7 was a hundred bucks off or whatever. When I was told how much of a good idea it is I reminded her that I do the vacuuming (takes me about twenty minutes of a sunday morning) and that there's a lot of floor based stuff dotted through the house which would have to be moved for this robot to do its thing. Case closed, I thought.

Four or so weeks later it turns up. I haven't vacuumed since. She spends a good amount of time moving things around so the robot can do its thing. It takes about two or three hours to do the house. It doesn't do the toilet rooms or my office as the toilets require more cleaning and the robot can't get under my office chair and into some gaps. It's too big to fit between the legs of my dining room chairs and there are various other spots it can't get into. It obviously can't get to the top of the skirting boards. It's one of those convenience things which will often end up costing you more time and money. Having the Roborock app on my phone meant that I could also join in to the fun but I yeah-naah-naah Idon'tthinkI'llbedoingthat'd away from that time sink!

A bit frustrated with my two right now: hoover is making a weird rattling noise when working, need to investigate further. Mop seems to have a stfit when being set off automatically after the hoover and has to be put back on dock and set off separately then it's fine.

Will have to get in touch with customer service about that. So, a bit of a wobble in the love with mine.

Ours is ~350sqft per floor, takes the J7 about an hour and ten to do downstairs which has two rooms plus kitchen and hallway. It's bump nav plus camera for obstacle avoidance. When it's first learning the map it fair old clatters into stuff but as it's learnt it more if just nudges stuff gently.

Keeping an eye out for eufy G30 as it has mapping feature plus auto recharge. £300 at the moment which is a bit more than what intend to spend. Would buy if it’s nearer to £200 :)

I had a Eufy X8 for a while. I was genuinely impressed with it. But one day it crashed into a pile of cardboard storage boxes. The top one had dog food in it and it spilled out everywhere, Luckily I had a vacuum for that…

In the end I returned it because ultimately it brought little to the party. Instead, we bought a cordless Dyson V15. It is surprising how much easier it is to vacuum using a cordless, not exactly a pleasure but definitely easier!

We've had the Proscenic M8 Pro since Nov 2021. Picked it up in a black Friday deal.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Proscenic-Navigation-Self... (there's a £100 off available

It's been pretty faultless over the year. We have hardwood floors downstairs and it works a treat (also have two Yorkies). Love that it self empties into a large bag which I empty every two weeks or so.

Mapping is very good but when you take it upstairs it does write a new map and it's a bit annoying you have to reload the old map. Other than that we also have a Dyson V7 which is still used from time to time and a Henry which we keep upstairs.

My wife loves the fact the floor is hoovered daily. We also have a robot mower and that too makes the garden look great.

Ok so I’m looking to get a robovac and mop if possible.

I have two dogs so it must be ok with dog hair.
I also have a split level house. Is there a way to move it and it knows where it is with some internal map? Or does it have to relearn everyday?
Self emptying would be good.

Any good recommendations?

What's your budget?
I have these: https://www.irobot.co.uk/en_GB/irobot-roomba-s9plu...

You can apparently take the hoover upstairs with a second docking station that they used to sell separately, but for some reason they don't seem to sell the dock anymore. You can find them on ebay.

I have the J7, which I like a lot. You can take it to a different area and once its done it just stops and then you can take it downstairs to the dock.

PS might be worth waiting until Black Friday for a deal.
