Yes the vac and mop run simultaneously.

No regrets at all it's a great piece of kit I really like the mapping and how it's all controlled so easily through the app.

I've got the self emptying dock, the standard one not the maxV, it was a must for me as I didn't want to faff about constantly emptying the vac manually.
OOI, how does this self emptying work ?
The dock has rubbish bins in it and a bigger vacuum to suck the crap out of the robot. Some newer ones also have clean and dirty water tanks, so the mopping side can be replenished also. The mop pads get cleaned while it docks.
All getting a bit clever.
Ah, I see....thanks

I am looking to buy a robo vac for the wife. it does seem like a bit of minefield but hopefully some advice here:

Consumables:

I think all the various makes and models use a dust bag that will need replacing, are there any that just use a container, preferably in a docking station?

Any other consumable costs/headaches to be aware of, any brands to avoid?

Mopping feature:

How good are they? I looked at a couple and I keep thinking the pad will just get dirty and drag dirt across the floor? Experiences of models that work well?

Our floors are mainly wood and tile with a couple of rooms carpeted.

TIA.

My Eufy 30C is now 3.5 years old - best bit of time/labour saving device we've had.

The Battery finally conked out and got a generic replacement from the Jungle people for £16.48, and a new roller & brush kit. It's like a new-old-thing again. 90 minutes, 6 days a week. Needs emptying every 3rd day, but on her wages, I don't mind...

I'd buy one again, and wouldn't bother with a "mapper", since on daily routine, it covers the entire open plan floor space (80m) at least every second day.
I have similar & think it's great. I'm curious why you run it every day when it only needs emptying every 3rd day- wouldn't running it every other day be more than enough?

Roborock s7 doesn't use a dust bag just a small container inside or if you buy the docking station a large container that the vac auto empties into after each clean that only needs emptied maybe once a month depending on your usage.

Mopping works fine on my amtico flooring not sure about wood or tiles.

Cat fur, kitchen crumbs, dust accumulate every day. I don't see the logic to your question, but there's your answer.

I have this bundle (amazing discount to be had right now too) https://www.irobot.co.uk/en_GB/irobot-roomba-s9plu...

The hoover is brilliant - it returns to its dock to empty itself and the bag inside the dock doesn't need emptying very often at all - I've owned it well over a year and changed the bag maybe 3 times, possibly 4.
You need to change the little spinny brush every so often, and I've had to change the rollers once since I've owned it.

The mop is also good - I watched it do the kitchen that had some cooking spills on the floor, I was pessimistic that they'd be dealt with. but after the mop had done its run, they were all gone.

My whole ground floor is laminate flooring with no thresholds, so perfect for robots. Only issue these days with a new baby is there is quite a lot of stuff we need to tidy up and move out of the way before setting them off to do their run.

Any questions feel free to ask.

Thankyou for the feedback. I decided to go with the roborock s7 maxv, yay. Found it with the docking station at appliances direct for £850 which was good enough to pull the trigger. Arrived yesterday, set it up earlier today on a test room (still waiting on some floors to be finished) and its currently doing its thing around the kitchen.

Bit noisy but less than a normal vac. Havent looked at the mop function yet.

Also recently bought this one. Run it every night on our kitchen/ lounge area. Then once a week on the whole house, unless the wife sets it off again.
I don't have the all singing all dancing dock mind.

A tip for fellow Roborock S7 users with pets and carpets - buy the Q5/Q7 roller/brushes for it as these pickup hair better and fit well.

Thought I’d bump up this thread instead of starting a new one.

Picked this up in the Black Friday sales.

Samsung Jet Bot AI+

The clever little thing has also mapped and named the rooms all by itself. How it identified the the kitchen and living room is beyond me. It’s also made notes of things that are on the floor like cables and items of clothing using object avoidance.

Chose this over others due to its 5 year warranty whereas other manufacturers (Eufy) only offer 1 year and for some reason nowhere offers any form of care plan for the Eufy and when you are spending quite a bit on an appliance I would like some options for extending its warranty, especially something as complex as this.

We've just bought a Switchbot K10+.
Does a great job on the tiled floors in the kitchen/diner and hallway, which are areas that get covered in cat hair.

Nice to get up in the morning to a clean floor.

That looks awesome.

My cheapo Ecovacs Deebot is still chugging away, had to get a replacement battery but still works well enough.

Bought a cheap second one, a Cecotec Conga 999 Origin Genesis. €99.99, and mops too. Doesn't do a bad job as a backup, the Eufy is better on carpets and this is better on wood floor and tiles.

Couple weeks in, the Cecotec isn't a bad buy. Sweeping is average, the rotating brushes sweep well but suction isn't amazing. Sucks up cat kibble, hair etc. nothing more, however the mopping is the handy part. a little bit of floor cleaner in the tank with the water, and change the pad after it's made the first pass (it soaks the place!) But as an interim mop it's decent for normal daily use. I have a dehumidifier going in the kitchen so it soon dries. Only complaint is the wheels aren't grippy at all, the water on the tiles makes them sin and it gets stuck in one place for ages it seems! Wonder could roughing them up with some sharp sandpaper help?

Had my Eufy G30 over 3 years now and the new Eufy X10 Pro OMNI has caught my eye.
It's coming out in a few months and you can buy a voucher for £200 off when they do release for £1 from Eufy. Which means they'll be £599. (Or £600 I'm guessing with the £1 for buying the voucher)

I know no-one can really give an opinion on something they haven't got yet but it looks pretty good!

Yep, I did. X8 has been doing well as a vac but the mopping isn’t worth bothering with. Decent mopping and auto emptying should be worth the upgrade.

“Reviews” so far seem to just be paid promos but the previous X9 reviewed well in proper tests, particularly for mopping and this just seems to be a smaller update to address criticisms of that like no auto emptying.

I've also had my Eufy G30 for 4 years now, and its gotten cranky and rather intrusive from a noise perspective. One of the brush motors square drive slips and grouches a lot.
I am thinking a time to replace - but not for that level of outlay I must admit.

Mines still going strong with no issues although we probably don't use it as often as some.
A bit disappointed at the 2nd hand values of them. Seems to be about £60 for a good one.

Yeah it's expensive but then for comparable models it seems good value.
Amazing how budget cheap works though.

The plastic gears strip on earliest models. A replacement motor is about £10-15, as are replacement batteries.
