I've also had my Eufy G30 for 4 years now, and its gotten cranky and rather intrusive from a noise perspective. One of the brush motors square drive slips and grouches a lot.
I am thinking a time to replace - but not for that level of outlay I must admit.
The plastic gears strip on earliest models. A replacement motor is about £10-15, as are replacement batteries.
I've replaced one of the side brush motors on my Robovac 11, and now the rolling brush is making a horrid grinding noise. I'll order a replacement motor was it still does a great job

The rolling brush needs replacing. Kits available on the jungle for about £15, too. The grinding noise is the end roller on the brush, which is worn away by grit. I've tried cheaper fix by sanding it and it doesn't work.

side brushes / overhaul maybe required then..... shame.
When it had fit a while ago, they got me to strip the unit down and it was never the same again.

Did you buy from Robovac the parts?

Is there any realistic chance of them developing these that can handle stairs any time soon?!

I'd love one but we have small staircases everywhere. Living room to dining / room, dining room to hallway, halfway to 2 bedrooms & bathrooms and again down to another bedroom plus stairs to another bedroom from the hallway.

Yep it's certainly had a hard life! Ordered one on Ali there for €22 delivered.

Nope, Ali every time. So far replaced the battery after it wouldn't charge anymore, about 15 quid for an improved capacity one.
Then came one side brush unit after the motor started to seize and she would only travel in circles. That was about 18 quid.
This time the rolling brush motor, at under 20. Still not mega money, cost me about a ton when I got it probably 3/4 years ago.

Well they can’t go up and down them but the more advanced one now can map more than one floor so when you pick them up and move them they work out where they are and carry on, and ping your phone to say there done / want to rtb

That one I'm looking a above does multiple floor mapping.

There's one coming on kickstarter that will be able to climb and clean stairs.
Wether it actually makes it to kickstarter and/or works properly is a other thing.

Does sound great to set it going and the whole house be cleaned though, although bigger pain to find it when it gets stuck haha.

We have a neato that's 4 years old, with a hardware failure! Guessing LIDAR related as the unit tries to work but the second it starts scanning to locate it flags the error.

Has anyone ever tried fixing a LIDAR?

My Partner wanted a Robovac so I bought her the Ecovacs Deebot Omni X2.

It mops very well, then cleans its mops and dries them with hot air. Self empties, self cleans, mopping good, vacuuming good.

Square design so gets to edges better than the last Robovac I owned; Eufy 30c.

Only criticism is mapping. Very good app, multi-floor, detailed, recognises rooms etc but takes a while to learn properly - a couple of weeks!

Still, good product and I’m particularly impressed with it’s ability to get around dining chairs etc and tight spaces with no bother at all - its base is behind a door and has a chair in front of it but it has no probs finding it.

Is it spinning the LiDAR head? If not, try replacing the LiDAR motor:

https://www.electronelec.co.uk/store/Mabuchi-RC300...

You’ll need to reverse the polarity (red to black, black to red). You’ll also need a long Torx driver to get at the recessed screws, otherwise it’s not too bad to replace

Ours had a USB port which you could connect to diagnostic software on a PC, was a while ago but should still be on the internet somewhere! Good luck, they’re good units when they work

Thanks chaps, I'll wait and see what comes from the kickstarter option. Sounds like a potential game changer!

Having dismantled, and replaced the gears in the side motor, the Eufy 30C does indeed sound and act a lot happier.

However, ......

It finds and heads back to the docking station, but then consistently clatters about it rather than crawl to approach, and mount it on to the plate and charge.
I can only assume a sensor is not acting properly - any pointers please?

Clean the sensors, and the two metal conductors with isopropyl alcohol.

The sensors - as in the bar at the front?
Previously the Robo would slow right down in proximity to the base unit - now it is racing around mounting it,.....

I am suspecting a 'caused by my fecking around with it' as only now a problem after multiple dismantling last night.

Underneath there are the two metal sensors. When you dismantle the Eufy, you can see where the proximity sensors are in the front, behind the flexible bumper. When you reassemble it, you need to be careful that the sensor that has "2 eyes" isn't bent or broken.

There is a YouTube video somewhere that shows a dude disassemble one, as a guide.

I suspect it won’t work on carpeted stairs.
