Just to call out good service - our Eufy X8 was starting to chime and report a S1 battery error sometimes instead of cleaning. A switch off / on would clear it but annoying.

Did a web chat with eufy support just to confirm if that was symptoms of a dying battery (it’s well out of warranty) and a couple of mins later they’d arranged a new battery to be sent out to me. Arrived 2 days later, all is good again.

I’d not mentioned I was planning to get an X10 but feeling better about that now. X8 should now be good for a while longer elsewhere.

Having repaired the side motor recently, the Battery in my 30C seems to have collapsed.

At first I was seeing the battery indicate as charging, the wifi icon flashing - then after a little time, the power button is solid red and shows on the app as 'offline'

Since played with the dock, played with the contacts and it is charging, then shows charged, but can run for only moments before stopping dead as a doodoo.

Anyone had similar? had a way to revitalise a battery or ....... ?

Did someone say stair ascending?

I suspect it won’t work on carpeted stairs.
"Cleans various surfaces such as floors and carpets."
Ok, I’m happy to have been corrected, this could potentially be a game changer then.

Roller in my 30c now making horrendous noise too, was it the motor for it that you replaced? I see eufy ask for a few photos to diagnose so might see what they say.

I’d swap battery, post above mentions can get them for £15

My roller brush required a de-hair dig in the motor unit
(Two labradors in the house- the internals of the Eufy is almost as hairy as the dogs).

The recent ‘surgery’ was to replace the gears in the side motor brush unit

Replace the roller. The plastic ends act as a bearing surface, and they get worn, grit gets in and the only thing that fixes it, is a replacement. They get sold as a kit on the Jungle for £12-17.

Cheers chaps, got a replacement kit from Eufy direct in the end as was only £22. The bookstore had a few but some reviews saying they weren't a great fit and given that's what seems to create the noise then thought not worth the hassle. Sorted it out nicely.

We have a Eufy Hybrid 11 which we struggle to get the parts for, can you let me know the store you're buying parts from please? Cheers

There are umpteen different options. I purchased the replacement battery from jungle, and a side motor from AliExpress, too.

Got mine from eufy, lots of reviews of Amazon complaining that the replacement parts weren’t a good fit and price difference wasn’t that great:

In a pinch, wrap a thin layer or sellotape or ptfe round the square end of the brush. That stops it making the noise until you get a new one.

RTings is a great website for reviews of tech stuff, and they've done loads of vacuums, std electric, battery, robots etc

I used it to hone in on the best Robovac for me, with particular attention being paid to deep pile carpets.

They have a ratings table where you can sort over 150 vacuum into performance measures such as deep pile, low pile, bare floor, pets etc

I clicked on deep pile and looked for the highest rated robots.

I eventually settled on the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo T8. Its rated 7.7 bare floor, 7.3 low pile, 7.2 high pile so fairly balance across all aspects and it also comes with powered oscillating mop function so a well rounded robot overall, and very competitively priced now at £239 from Amazon. Seems like a well sorted product in terms of performance for all the different tasks.

To put it into perspective, the Dyson Cinetic Big ball Animal pro multi floor vacuum (full size vacuum, not hand held) is rated 7.6 bare floor, 7.6 low pile, 7.5 high pile, for a robot to get 7.7 - 7.3 - 7.2 on those measure is a pretty damn good indication of performance. Not far off the quality of a full size vacuum.

Good old Henry Hoover gets 8.4 - 7.8 - 8.1 proving that the mantra 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' still holds up despite all the new tech.

Anyway, here is the tool and lots of reviews to check out different stuff:

https://www.rtings.com/vacuum/tools/table

In their testing, they rate the Roborock s8+ as the best robot (although they haven't tested them all of course) with a rating of 8.0 - 7.5 - 7.2 which is basically, every bit as good as the full size Dyson Big Ball.

Looking forward to getting my Deebot T8.

After researching and looking at reviews, I think to get the best out of a robot you've got to help it a little. There are times I will mop the floor and I'm sweating due to trying to get rid of tough stains. Some reviewers just send the robot out and complain when the floor isn't pristine. My plan is to do a quick scan of the floor, spray some cleaning solution on any tough looking stains, agitate them a little and then just let the robot do its thing. I'm hoping that will give the robot a fighting chance of leaving me with a fairly clean looking floor.

I have a roborock and its been great. I find that best results from mopping are if you do it most/every night (or whenever you set it off) so dirt doesnt build up and become an issue. Our tiled kitchen/diner and other areas look pristine.

It doesn't look like they have tested the Eufy x10 pro yet but reviews like this https://youtu.be/w5TptTy-Cd8?si=qpt8UdrSwPEymGl_ seem to put it as good/better than the Roborock.
Which is insane given its half the price.

One thing I noticed in all the reviews I read and videos I watched was the Roborock was consistently good across all of the range.

I think I'll be following a similar routine as yours, just set it to work at regular intervals to keep on top of everything.

Good video that. All singing all dancing feature set at a great price. Its crazy how good these things have got. A couple of years ago, you hadn't a hope of getting those features at that price.

While I've went for what was previously one of the top spec robots from a few years ago (Deebot T8) its missing the self emptying stuff that you can get now. I can get a station accessory where it empties the dust compartment, but not the water. Some of the stuff now does so much more with cleaning and drying the mop heads etc. Depending how things go, I could see myself going for something like that now that prices are more palatable. The Deebot T8 was replaced with a Deebot X1 the next year, and it had a release price of something like £1.5k due to having all that mop head cleaning and water management system. Crazy price £1.5k, but a couple of years later, the prices have come down significantly which is great to see.

I bought the £200 Eufy Voucher for £1 which they then delayed the release of because it was more popular than they thought. So it should be coming this month and then I can order the x10 putting the price at £599.
I'm excited as around the kids high chairs could do with a quick mop almost every other day and I can't be arsed with it manually.
We also don't use the G30 as often as we probably should as you have to plan to use it by emptying the dust box so it's only 1-2 times a week.
Having the 60 day dust holding and cable avoiding AI will mean we just set the X10 on a schedule every 2nd night and not really tidy up too much.

That's an incredible price. For context, I have a cleaner come to my home once a week for 3.5 hours.

I reckon about half of that is hoovering and mopping. So I'm spending something like £1.5k per year on the cleaner doing what a robot can 'nearly' do. So I can definitely see myself going for an Omni solution like the X10 in the future. Plus, you have the benefit of having that hoovering and mopping done daily if you really want to. So you can easily justify the investment in one of those types of all in one machine, especially at £599! I've been spending considerably more than that, every single year for the past number of years we've had a cleaner (12 or 13 years now I think)

I'm looking forward to my non OMNI robot coming too see how it works out. Its not hugely inferior to the latest models in terms of vacuum and mop performance, so if I'm happy with the results, it will give me the confidence to spend the extra money and get an all singing all dancing model.
