got the d8 today and have been using it, really impressed with the hoovering!
not so impressed with the mopping though and wondering whether to get a dedicated steam cleaning robot to do that for me - has anyone here done so?
Did you fit the oscillating mop head before sending it out?
Daft question, but can you fit the mop attachment and then send it out to hoover one room and then mop another?

Don't quote me on this as I only got mine this morning, but as I understand it, as soon as you attach the mop, it will hoover and mop at the same time, and avoid all carpets. I haven't delved into the app too much so perhaps there is a way to do that but I'm not sure. I know on some other robots, it has facility to lift the mop out of the way and mop hard floors but just hoover carpets, then mop comes back down once carpets are done.

I think so, is that the blue one?

maybe I had too high expectations compared to steam cleaning!
In the box, there is a pro mop. There is a sticker on the water reservoir that says you can't remove the base plate. I put the blue mop onto the pro mop as according to reviews, those disposable white mops aren't good.

So I went straight in and attached the pro mop water reservoir and attached the blue mop head to that and sent it on its way. Its easy to know, as the pro mop clearly oscillates in a scrubbing motion when its moving around and the Deebot says 'pro mop attached' when you plug it in. If its not doing that, its just the regular mop.

My floor was pretty clean anyway, so I'm going to make some intentional mess (Jam, tea stain, yoghurt) and make 3 stains of each, 9 in total. I'll leave them all to dry out and then leave 1 untreated, spray some cleaner on the 2nd, then spray some cleaner and agitate a little on the 3rd and then send the Robot out to see how it gets on.

ah so the standard robot doesn't come with the pro mopping system and has to be bought seperately?

https://www.ecovacs.com/id/deebot-winbot-accessori...

is anyone adding any cleaning solutions to the tank also?

My T8 came with the pro mop.
From reading reviews the pro mop used to be an added extra, but they just include it with most of them now.

Pro mop looks like this:

My 1st downstairs run picked up this with the hoover. Our cleaner was here 5 days ago. I was waiting for the robot to arrive Fri or Sat so didn't do any hoovering like we would typically do at the weekend but for all hard floors downstairs and a few rugs, I'm kind of shocked at the amount of dirt and debris in a few days.

We've a short hair Pug who is shedding a bit at the moment though but its an alarming amount.

Anyways, I'm letting these stains dry for a good few hrs and then I'll try the mop on them. Will report back.

Deebot T8 mopping test complete (pro mop attachment)

Started by 3 of each stain, tea, jam and yoghurt and left for about 4 hours.

Left stains were untreated, middle stains got a spray of general household cleaner and right stains got same spray and a bit of agitating with a sponge.

This is as soon as stains were put down

Left for just under 4 hours. Unfortunately, my dog licked all the yoghurt away lol rotate

Result:

Can't see much but still some jam residue left if you look closer

Bottom circle is the untreated jam stain, top circle was jam stain with a pre spray

Findings:

Tea stains completely vanished on 1st pass regardless of any pre treatment or not

Jam stain only completely vanished for the stain that has both a spray and a quick agitate

So I sent it out for a 2nd pass. Jam completely vanished regardless of any treatment or not

Conclusion:

Seemed little point in pre treating the stains, unless you are going to give it a pre rub to help. Perhaps if I let the spray sit for a few minutes it might have made a difference.

Little point in doing any pre treatment at all, just send it back for another pass because on pass 2, all untreated stains were gone anyway.

I suppose ground in dirt or stains that have been baked overnight might be a tougher task. Perhaps my test was too easy, only 4 hrs baked in. Overall though, it's exceeded my expectations.

My floor is porcelain tiles with a semi rough matt finish. I thought not having shiny tiles would make the robot struggle a bit but it was fine.

I've videoed the cleaning taking place so if anyone has morbid curiosity and wants to watch, let me know and I'll stick it up on YouTube smile

Must admit I've been tempted by one of the robomops for a while, we also have a 'dumb' robo hoover which bumps around but generally does a good job. (Eufy of some sort)

Is it worth upgrading to a dual mode machine, or better buying a separate mopping one? Ideally I'd like something that I can program in no-go zones such as rugs etc..

The T8 has no go zones and no mopping areas.

Lol smile

It used to be a fairly expensive optional extra accessory but just comes with it as standard now. From reviews I've read, most recommend to use the blue mop head for any mopping, so I've ordered some extra so I can rotate them. Also recommended to wet the mop head at the beginning. You can also spray detergent/disinfectant directly onto the mop pad so give it a bit of a spray with some of that too if you feel the floor needs it.

I've got my cleaner here today. She'll be doing the upstairs carpets with the trusty Henry the hoover and all being well, I'll send the robot round afterwards to see if it can pick up stuff Henry can't. Probably not a lot TBH but I need to create a map for upstairs anyway so may as well do it directly after its been hoovered already and see what happens.

Ordered the Eufy X10 with the £200 voucher that finally arrived so that should be here in a few days.
Also went through topcashback as it's 7%+ with Eufy although I'm expecting them to knock me back as I used a voucher. They knocked me back last year for a normal purchase that should have gone through. They seem to be like currys, offer great things on topcashback and then reject everything and only pay if you contest it within the time limits. Makes good business sense if you think about it as most won't remember to check it's arrived.

Got my Eufy X10 Pro set up yesterday, it's replacing an X8. Did a quick mapping and just let it get on with cleaning, didn't bother setting up no-go zones like I did before, such as for under a cabinet where there's a lot of wires. Recognised the back door mat and rug as areas to not mop correctly - the AI camera also correctly recognised a lamp base, shoes, a bucket and some cables and avoided bumping all of them. Mopping seems good although floors were fairly clean already.

Happy at £600, never bothered using the mop of the X8 because it was just dragging a damp cloth about and too much faff to set up. Only downside is the big base station, the X8 happily lived under a sofa but I'll have to find a good spot for the new base.

Ok so I am quoting you smile.

I've just got the T10 with dock and after an initial run through the house to map I'd tried to send it out to do 2 high traffic areas for a daily vac and mop. One area being the kitchen and the other the hallway. I found it wouldn't even try the hall when the mop was attached as that's in a don't mop zone. I have to say I just assumed it would turn off the mop. I assume it will do the same with areas it's recognised as having got mats and rugs. Even though it leaves the floor pretty dry after mopping I don't want to risk it on the hardwood floors so I guess I'll have to get used to switching the mop on and off.

I also discovered that this morning the unit and dock appeared to be off for some reason and I had to turn off the vac and back on with the big slide switch under the cover. Anyone else had similar with the Ecovacs bots?

The £200 voucher for the x10 can be used on the Eufy website and Amazon if you want to give your used codes to a mate.
