It needn’t be such a big job. One of my favourite bars in Bangkok recently converted their toilet into a urinal:

That's quality. For a more contemporary look, one of these maybe?

With a bracket, hinge and hook, you could regard it as a convertible.

[quote=guindilias]I was at an architectural salvage place a month or two ago and they had all sorts of toilets,......- he must have had 200 old basins there, I found exactly the one I wanted after about half an hour of looking. ./quote]
Sounds grand. Where abouts in the world is that?

I have a old Victorian toilet which works better than the recently installed modern fittings elsewhere in the house.
Definitely keep the loo!

We have one in the outbuilding/corridor leading to our garage and its a great place to sit and contemplate life, or just how to sort the next issue with the car!

I Agree definitely keep the toilet. You can guarantee the week after you replace it someone will have a dose of diarrhoea.

Ballyalton House, in Northern Ireland. http://www.ballyaltonhouse.co.uk/

The owner admitted that he hardly updates the stuff, he isn't an internet person - he just takes pictures of interesting stuff that comes in, and then gives his phone to his son who puts them on the Facebook page for him. Doesn't bother listing the "normal" stuff like huge quantitities of reclaimed slates, bricks, sanitaryware, you name it.
The "interesting" stuff is stored inside, in one of his many outbuildings, the bogs, sinks, slates, bricks etc just sit outside, sometimes covered by a tarp if they are unusual, like those huge wide sinks you see, or very ornate and delicate stuff. Don't think he ships anything anywhere, though he would probably do it for high value stuff that isn't too fragile,

Yep, we had a rental house in Lux with the 'inspection shelves' on the stters .... meant you spent less time sat on the stter when your jobbies were on the 'shelf' and above water for the duration! The smell.... Oof!
The trick I discovered was to sit the opposite way on the toilet so you could still st in the water....

Fair enough. Bit far from the Wirral but sounds a great place. Need to get down to some salvage yards!

Could do with some large light fittings, and in time, hopefully some paving stones, wall lights, and the like for outside.

You'd be in heaven there - he has everything from huge church stained glass windows, all the way down to "council" paving slabs. Just stacked randomly all over the place - inside and outside. church pews, sconces, 1950s light fittings, old gas lamps, everything - you could spend a day there.
The black area at the back that look like a pond is a horse riding bit - he hires out his horses as well, it's the equine equivalent of renting a car for a track day...laughlaugh
