So as a thread update.

We've got a design 95% done.

We're going with these https://www.oliveandbarr.com/

I did want to use singlecoil on here, however my mrs wasn't keen on the distance etc(Thanks for your input SC), Given its Christmas and their lead times, aiming for it to go in on the 6th April. I'll update this thread as the room and kitchen takes shape.

Olive and barr have been great to deal with, offer a lovely lovely product and come out at the same cost as one of the local places that use doors from Europe and chipboard carcass, with less support and with a large degree of arrogance.

O+B are supplying all the stone and fitting the kitchen, so that way i've a single point of contact for anything, it means they're going to pay better attention to the details. Can't wait!

Well you should already know the price of the last three so it's the first three you are wondering about. Have you managed to get some quotes?

I'll do the first fix on the electrics myself, plumbing i'll do also, i'll get a tame gas fitter around to extend gas for the hob.

Lime plaster materials are about £600, 3 days work.

only gaps are around some fixture and fittings costs, also what the final oven price is, hoping to get one in a sale of some sort.

As a matter of interest what are they using instead of chipboard?

If it's just the look of the dovetails that you like then it's what you should have, but it doesn't really say anything about the overall quality of the kitchen. Dovetail oak drawers can be bought in from specialist manufacturers at quite economic prices, there's one near me called Probox, for instance.

Fitting can of course be a significant element of any kitchen and including it has got to be a good thing.

I won't have a sink on the island, its got to be looking over the window(mrs says).

Fridge is going as you walk in on the left in the alcove next to the cruck frame(its deeper there so will sit flush with a 400mm deep larder unit).

This is the post that sits away from the wall

I've got the space to make the island unit longer, 2m or so. if needs be I could put a small built in fridge under there.
So as a thread bump, room is just about ready to fit the kitchen. I'd like to say its been great fun. It hasn't. However looking at those pics, its a little different now.

A bit of stripping back, so I can first fix plumbing/electrics

Finding more old alterations(altered circa 1780)

A bit of frame building and breathable boarding. Harl coat of lime on

float coat of lime on and a bit of shape

So basically lots of lime, lots of work.

Now its had a bit of paint, electric second fix, still a few bits to do. Bag rubbing done.

Lots of nice curves.

Well our kitchen should have been fitted 6 or 7 weeks ago........

Obviously it wasn't. Had to take the oven delivery and hood, got those in position.

some cover panels have been made(pics to follow).

Kitchen suppliers have been great with communication.

Waiting on a gas pipe extension, also thinking about getting the wood burner up and running now.

Lime plastering just looks so much nicer!

Are the stone flags original?

Its just so much 'softer' to the eye, IMO.

These stones aren't, I did point them in an age appropriate way, also they've a matt/very mild satin breathable sealer on. The ones in the inglenook are though.

another dull update, all units are in, knobs on.

Small Snagging list for the suppliers to work through.

Worktop template is Thursday
10 days later worktops fitted
2 days later kitchen painted

Then its done, so still another 2 weeks or so.

I think i'll be at about £30k +/- £1k.

Thats complete kitchen(units/fitting/worktops/taps/handles)
Log burner
Oven
extractor
dishwasher
lime plastering
other materials
lights
Paint
Oven gas supply fitting
