My in laws had a solid timber kitchen about 10 years ago. Hand painted too. It started to look rubbish after about 6 months.
The paint started to wear off, the doors warped due to heat and humidity.
Cost them £25k. Not diy kitchens though.
Sounds like the paint was inadequate and that the doors were made in a factory or workshop where the temperature and more particularly the humidity was not controlled. So when the doors went from a cold, damp unit into a warm dry atmosphere (as is found in modern kitchens) they warped. The paint started to wear off, the doors warped due to heat and humidity.
Cost them £25k. Not diy kitchens though.
