As above a hot glue gun is ideal, it's what I've used for similar, it goes off quite quickly but not too quick that you don't get time to reposition the strip slightly. I've used it for LED and also sticking cables along cornice etc.

Watch your fingers as the glue can be hot.

Thats what I used for my led strips in kitchen cabinets, 12 months later and all still good. About the same width as the strip lighting & if it's good enough to secure sealed units then it's easily capable of holding a bit of led strip lighting. Also clean and easy to use.

Yes I used it in my sons room about 3 years ago, still solid. It holds exterior pvc trims on exterior windows and doors so more than adequate for this purpose.

thanks for the suggestions, i used grifill which worked a treat though i had to stop last night (the strip is outside) as it was getting too cold and I could feel the gripfill starting to harden up in the tube. Will finish the rest today.
