Which new hoover?
Discussion
We've got a Dyson V6 Animal cordless thing and I don't really know why everyone raves about them to be honest. Maybe I have a particularly poor model though it still cost me about £200 odd but it isn't all that good. I found the Gtech Air Ram I used to have just as good and felt more robust. I recently bought a Titan wet/dry vac from Screwfix for £45 and it's leagues better than the Dyson at hoovering stuff up. If you aren't massively fussed about having a cordless one then I'd absolutely stick to something like a Miele, Henry or even a shop vac style one like the Titan I just got. They'll be loads better at actually picking stuff up.

Which Shark please?
We have this one, but ours was a limited edition one (so all black in colour)https://www.argos.co.uk/product/8907844
They're often on offer, ours came from Shark direct and was £199.99 with spare filters, car cleaning kit and next day delivery so it might be worth checking their site.
They have some offers on at the moment.

Just seen you have a dog, our Shark is fairly quiet, the hound used to get bothered by our old Dyson but she doesn't react to the new one.

I got a titan wet and dry vac for work and it was so good I bought a second for the house. It cost me 40 quid and has epic levels of suction. It uses bags though and is a noisy bugger otherwise it's as good as any henry.
You can attach the hose to the output from the motor creating a blower too, useful for crevices in cars.
Its 1300W, how do they bypass the EU laws on power?

We’ve had a Miele pet/dog hair for 11 years without fault. The only time it stopped working was a few years ago when it overheated when we didn’t realise something was jammed. Cleared the blockage and it’s been fine since. Use it outside and in the shed and places it shouldn’t and just keeps on going.

Got one of these too, great for sucking up rubble but no good for carpet with the supplied tools etc You can attach the hose to the output from the motor creating a blower too, useful for crevices in cars.

we had Dysons for years,
then after having issues with the last 2 as soon as the warranty ended, we decided they were overpriced crap, gave up and got a Miele cat and dog instead.
that was about 8 years ago,
Recently, my daughter asked for a new vacuum for her flat and we decided for ease of use, and the fact that she's not trying to cover too big of an area, we'd get her one of the newer cordless ones.
we boiled it down to either getting a shark, or because of all the good reviews giving Dyson another chance.
In the end the reviews, and Dyson being lighter gave it the edge, and I have to say, so far, and considering how skeptical I had become about Dysons, it's been really impressive and has sold me on getting a cordless vacuum to replace our Miele when it eventually dies,
problem is Miele's seem to be made to last forever, and with the knowledge that we've never made any effort to look after it since purchase, I feel I could probably chuck it off the roof and it would still keep going
so in summary if you want something that will keep going long after you've got sick of using it get a Miele,
otherwise I've no idea,
but Dyson cordless jobbies do seem a lot better than the corded stuff from about 10 years ago.
