Fuel Tool still the only Co. quoting me £1.09

Awaiting my local co. who were supposed to deliver today but if it's at that level I'll just buy a bit more red to tide me over as I think it's going down

The local supplier cHasing me, offering 78p
My local supplier is quoting 109 which is the same as fuel tool (for weeks) and now boilerjuice has finally come back online - at the same price

Warwickshire

Seems a bit of a "coincidence" as all three used to be different

You do know that fuel tool or boilerjuice don't have any trucks so it's a good chance only that one supplier is quoting.
I do

That too would be unusual - fuel tool has been quoting it for weeks and BJ have only just begun quoting again

Only one Co. quoting on two platforms or all 3 having the same price is equally usual

Even when there were recent issues getting a fuel delivery and Boilerjuice were cancelling orders and leaving people high and dry, I am amazed how quickly and how fickle customers can be to go rushing back.

Nobody predicted any of the last few fuel crisis periods, in fact, I'd be amazed if any crisis period has been predicted. So thinking this won't happen again or it won't happen to you is great until it does. I really cannot emphasise this enough, find a local supplier and let them help you. It will pay dividends when there is a supply issue.

Keep in mind I only cover a very small and limited area of operation. I have no benefit to writing this. PH users accidentally steering themselves to my phone line will make zero difference to my bottom line.

Find a good local firm and stick with them.
I hear what you're saying BUT in the 7 years I've been buying oil BJ has been significantly cheaper than my local supplier

It simply doesn't make sense to pay probably £100 / yr more so that once in every 7 years I can get fuel easier

They clearly only dropped off 600L

It was 157 before delivery
Don't start MrSpoon off - he swears that short deliveries are impossible and have been for 40 years

Is there a foolproof way to ascertain the exact volume of oil delivered by suppliers?
Use a dipstick or sight gauge

My tank has a sight gauge - I quickly calculated the volume and have marked the gauge with 100L increments to make it very simple to check my usage (and deliveries)

Dipping won't achieve anything.
It's very simple maths - I can measure my oil accurately

I'll agree it's harder with a cylindrical tank

Thanks - for £5 I haven't missed much.

With the £50 energy supplier ones I got free electricity for a year !

Will it ever go back down?

Russias sanctions will be here for a very long time. No one will want a Russian product or support them. In fact the world has changed so markedly in such a short period of time it’s not clear what will happen.
I thought we were all still buying Russian oil ?

I've bitten the bullet and ordered 2000L at 97p as I was hoping it would fall further (cheapest it got here was 88) but it only seems to be going up

Of course now I've bought, it'll go down

You guys do realise 7x-ppl is still extortionate....

We made a profit when fuel prices were 30p. 50p. Even 20p. And less.

Just saying.

JR
It's irrelevant we need oil and the best we can do is try to buy it at the best time and for the cheapest price at that time

Which is precisely why we use Oil clubs / Boiler Juice etc

You know the ones you don't like - BECAUSE our local suppliers screw us over

If they started giving loyalty discounts that might change

I don't understand how YourNRG can quote me 92p/litre but Boilerjuice 108p/litre. How do the economics of this actually work? I assume it's not as simple as "Brent goes up, kerosene goes up (a few days later)"
Same as any quote - some want the business more than others

Unleaded petrol continues to reduce in price, down to 158.9 at two local petrol stations (South Gloucestershire). This is presumably as a result of a drop in the price of crude oil, $91.20 earlier today; the lowest for six months.
Logic says that heating oil should also reflect the drop in crude but reality may be different.
Currently 88.47 from BJ and 86.4 from the Oil Club.
Using logic with market prices (and women) doesn't work

I've seen a price drop today. I checked the local supplier first thing and their portal was showing 87p. It's now at 85.17p
I'm overdue a top up but am wondering if it will slide further.

This is in South Warwickshire
Who are you using ?

My quotes are coming at 97p

I committed yesterday at 84p exc VAT. Prices seem pretty stable so any further changes are going to be small, to me there is now a much higher likelihood that they are going to go up as opposed to down. I feel a lot of people have held off this year waiting for prices to come down (myself included), but necessity is going to be the decisive factor for many now as we get into winter, there will be more pent up demand.

All IMHO of course.
I thought the general consensus is that oil prices will fall due to the recession

But whether that will feed into UK prices with the £ falling against the $... who knows

Oil price has effectively doubled meaning that my £1.2k oil bill has become a £2.4k bill

And I get a whopping £100 voucher
