Most do not . They are double skinned so clear tanks wouldn’t work
Ah you are assuming I'm a plastic peasant, whilst I was assuming PHers were all real steel men

wink

Decent steel tanks have sight gauges

Steel tanks usually come with dipsticks , haven't see a plastic sight gauge on a tank since the 70's
A quick google shows they are still being sold - with the caveat that they shouldn't be fitted to bunded tanks

Just seen a 15ppl spike from Your NRG to 82ppl for a January delivery, or 92.58ppl for this thursday delivery.

This is out of kilter with both the local fuel company and boiler juice who are still quoting 68ppl cheapest delivery and 76ppl quickest delivery.
It all depends who is quoting and how busy they are hence why the multiple sites exist

Check your tanks before it becomes an emergency like mine!
Generally they rot from the inside so it's a bit awkward to do

I suppose a cheap ebay endoscope might do it

I had a look in mine when I moved it - it had been there for at least 20 years, there was rust at the lower end so I just switched the outlet and raised the other end - that was 10 years ago

Re old tanks, around here the suppliers will no longer deliver to single-skinned steel tanks: change it, or no oil.
Who told you that? And where are you ?

I'm in Warwickshire and was chatting to the driver who supplied my last delivery, he said it's up to the driver to make the decision if it's unsafe but they're told not to leave anyone without oil but he did just refuse some gypsies who had an old ibec they'd been using for years
