We’ve been doing bits on the garden since before lockdown, this was all just a split level lawn as recently as 2015 or so.
Foxgloves and various trees in the border, planted the trees last year to shelter the main garden as it can get windy.
Looking down the top garden to the veg beds, elderflower is out so some will be getting snipped for cordial. Something demolished our pumpkins so we’ve planted more peas and beans, kids love to forage them...and speaking of foraging...
First raspberries of the season are ready, managed to find them before the kids, vindication of my raspberry frame as they were so easy to access and scoff.
We have lots of chives around the garden, we eat them on walkabout and they’re great for the bees. We’ve two hives in the house roof and we found an underground hive in the garden so we’ve plenty of bees.
We don’t use any weed killers or pesticides and the garden is always buzzing with life, noticed a lot of native two spot ladybirds this year, which is great but my god compared to Harlequins they’re tiny!
It was chomping on bugs amongst the foxgloves.
Oh, and there’s a lawn in progress for the lawn thread. We’re hand weeding it at the moment as there are a bajillion dandelion seeds, despite being netted after sowing.

Very jealous of this thread and some of these gardens. I’ve had to devoid my entire garden of pots, plants, flowers etc. due to the children being at the age of ultra destructiveness and working long hours/looking after them.
Just grass, some trees, and a small low maintenance stoned section with some bay trees.

Good to see all the gardens looking great. Our veg garden area is mostly complete now, just needs some more planting round about. Everything looks to be growing well so far. You'll notice the buttercups which seem to be taking over our garden. The main grass area is a sea of yellow and white with daisys also. Looks good but maybe not for the lawn thread!
I found that a walnut from my neighbour's tree had been buried in my onion bed by a red squirrel. It had sprouted so I've potted it. I might have walnuts in a decade or two!
Not my hands, obvs, but my assistant.
The rest of the garden is very productive now after a slow start. I'm awash with salad leaves, rocket and radishes, and the rest is coming along nicely. Tomato bushes in flower too.

The pond is quite overgrown and full of weed but reluctant to clear it out as there’s loads of frog and toadlets.

We flattened the old mountain of grass cuttings and let a corner go to nettles for caterpillars and started planting a couple of raised beds for cutting flowers. Ran out of bags of top soil and compost so another trip back to the garden centre this week.

We put bird seed on the lawn and as a result I’ve managed to befriend a pheasant that now chases me around the garden while I’m on the mower.

That pheasant photo is ace!
Here's my lupin that's 2 years old this year, as I said, the hedge does it no favours :-(
My two larger delphinums, now at about 1.7m high! Alliums now dying....These are only two years old too....most of the garden is 2-3 years because of various building projects and the garden becoming a dumping ground.
Agapanthus out!

Not sure if this fits in this thread.. but it is garden related!
So.. parents house had a gate not much younger than me, given it was part of the house when it was built in 1984, and basically falling apart even after it'd been lashed back together by my grandad using any old wood and hardware he had.
So... I got busy.
Designed in CATIA, worked out material requirements for it and gave a parts list to the parental units.
Laying out the slats , screwed together and using a pair of cut spacers to get the gaping .. somewhat correct.
Gate completed.
End of Day 1 at least, it was in and hanging with a deadlock.
Day two antics to fit the remaining hardware.
Still needs staining but otherwise, all screwed together, and when you deadlock both bolts, it's SOLID against the walls
