Is anyone moving now?
Discussion
In process moving
7 weeks since “porting” application for current mortgage.
Was rejected 10 days ago, sent info to appeal & told
Back of the queue once again. So stressful as children moving schools etc
I guessed email address for Building Society CEO. Received a call from Underwriting Director within 20mins apologising profusely. Said initial application should never have been rejected. Offer issued same day/yesterday
Never smooth sailing with houses

Heh, we’ve packed a few boxes and have been ready to exchange for nearly 2 months now
We could, in theory exchange tomorrow, today or any day now - and until we do we won’t be packing anything else because we still don’t really believe this move is going to happen.
We were exactly the same to a point, where we had to start packing as a possible exchange arose...ended up being another 5 weeks until we actually moved. Lived with bare minimum clothes etc during that time. Glad we did though as it definitely pays to get ahead on the packing / clearing front. Made the last week a lot easier. We could, in theory exchange tomorrow, today or any day now - and until we do we won’t be packing anything else because we still don’t really believe this move is going to happen.
Ended up doing a simultaneous exchange & completion last Friday, which was a nightmare and right up to the point when we got the phone call at 11am on moving day (with everything loaded onto the lorries) I refused to believe it was going to happen...so I wouldn't be too disappointed if it all fell through.
Fingers crossed your move all goes according to plan. It's a nightmare getting anything done at the moment..

Thats who Im with.....
After 6 weeks of mayhem with our existing provider Santander, we applied with Barclays via a broker on a Friday, had the mortgage in principal same day, formal offer on the Monday. This was in August time, but I was super impressed, so much so I thought our broker must have made a mistake somewhere. It massively helps to have all your statements, wage slips, years of annual bonuses if you have them all set up and ready to go to avoid any back and forth.
Santander wouldn't take either if our modest annual bonuses into consideration in the post covid world whereas before they were treated the same as our salary.
Bad news on ours, after much chasing we’ve discovered person at the bottom of the chain is not ready at all and has outstanding enquiries....since October. We’ve been pushing everything to exchange as ironically the bottom of the chain were pushing and chasing hard. I’m not packing a thing until we exchange as I’m doubtful it will even happen now. Such a crap process still operating in the dark ages.
After our purchase was cancelled by the seller, our buyer has been pressuring us to contribute to their stamp duty, which we were reluctant to do anyway, so hopefully this will fix that. Really though we need a glut of properties to get on the market, because at the moment nothing is happening in the area we want to move to.

Surely when you buy a house you budget for the worst case scenario? It's not like stamp duty is a surprise! We were resigned to paying the stamp duty, but saving £15k means we can get on with some of the work that needs doing straight away. I have my fingers crossed as Mrs FB and the mini FB's keep looking at expesive roll top baths
