So after last weeks drama, we start another week of waiting around to exchange.

Week 18 since we sold and 15 since we purchased.

After upping our offer by £5k twice, seller has now rejected it saying our chain is too risky. Meh.

Daughter had a buyer like the above - in a softening market she'd not had much interest so dropped the price. Then two women competed for the house (£225K ish) and one offered £10K more. Turned out the buyer's solicitor was her sister. She then dragged things out for months with sequential questions. The one that most seemed to tip daughter's solicitor over the edge was asking for copies of past water bills, when the house is on a meter!

Then at exchange she dropped her offer by £10K. By then daughter was worn down and accepted it.

Very sorry to hear. If you are not desperately in need of the cash, I would recommend change the agent. (If your contract finished with them). Put it on a slightly higher price with new photos, and only accept offers with min. 50% deposit. Any offer with less than 50% deposit, just put them on a contract race.

I'm not sure if this is the best place to ask this question and may sound silly but I have a cat that I will need to obviously bring with me to my new home when I move, but I'm not sure what the best way to go about this is. I don't want her left in a cat carrier the whole day, and at the same time don't want her outside wandering the streets while we pack up, anyone got any advise for moving with animals?

I would say leave her with a friend/family or daycare. We have done a move once with our young puppy without arranging anything, it was a total nightmare really. The moving day is already hectic.

I’ve a horrible feeling the weakest link in our chain is playing that game too. She’s going to leave it so late in the day that we have to consider her “alternative” offer even if we don’t want to.

They are some s out there unfortunately. frown

We moved 10 miles up the road, the cat is usually fine in her cat carrier, so when transporting her I didn't think twice about having it in the car until I got onto a dual carriageway when the cat decided she had enough of her captivity and somehow escaped from the fking carrier. One emergency stop into a well timed layby later and I am trying to retrieve said feline from the back of the car without opening the doors and get her back in the carrier while being mindful on my 6 month old alcantara interior. That was an experience! Once she was back in there I put it in the boot, would like to have seen the little bh escape that hehe

Cheers for the advice, we're only moving 40 odd miles but I think the best thing will be to clear a room first, maybe my bedroom as that's "her room" too, get her comfortable and put her in a cat carrier until we need to go. She sleeps 23.5 hours a day so shouldn't hear a peep...or as said above, drive past a chinese.

It’s very much a sellers market at present. The vendor can afford to be picky.

Thanks, well yeah, thing is we already bought (and virtually moved into) a big place in Devon so this is a bit of a blow. Husband is very stressed about funding two big properties - the new one is needing a huge amount of work.
I don't think it's the agent at fault here - the two we are on with are fine - we actually decided to pull £100k off the price for a quicker sale. Will give your suggestion some thought though - appreciate your reply. Fingers crossed.

This is could be our situation.

I don't want to commit to the place we are buying as I could end up with a smallholding and a house (on top of another house) and the whole point of the move was to have a change of life.

Our buyers have gone from proving the equivalent of a 100% mortgage and not having to sell. To now a mortgage that required a valuation and now a structural survey. And they still want to complete for the SDLT deadline. And we have still had zero enquiries and searches are outstanding.

As I need to spend quite a few quid that I otherwise wouldn't moving some stuff and on fencing and the like (in the thousands) I'm just not going to do it until we have some firm dates.

Bizarrely they dropped out because of the location, which after 4 lengthy visits over 3 months is utterly incomprehensible. I’ve got a feeling there’s something else going on but will never know so pointless pondering.

We had another viewing this evening so fingers crossed there’s a good sign

That's a good one

Ours was a neighbour, a cash buyer of a million quid house who "forgot" about the stamp duty so it made it unviable
After more than two months and after we'd sold all the outside furniture and tractor.

Just seen a LinkedIn post that anyone requesting that one back has said that anyone requesting funds for the 29th with a 30th completion needs to submit their CaT form to request this by the 21st.

Can see some being caught out,

I finished my 12 hour night shift at 0700, went gym and then tried to call solicitor at 0900 on the dot this morning to find out where we are after last weeks drama of the management pack and the bloke at top pulling out (his solicitor knew nothing of it at the time), anyway solicitor not available can I pass a message on. Sent him and email and then went to sleep.

Woke up by my phone ringing at 1450, the estate agents, good news exchange tomorrow completion next Friday (11th) Finally!! rang the removals company who said they wanted 50% non-refundable to secure so I said no ill risk it till exchanged.

Roll on 1720, message from bloke above who I have contact with, screen shot of an email off his solicitor to say shes agreed exchange/completion with my solicitor, but the bloke at the top has now filled for withdrawal, apparently he did this with his solicitor this morning. So we are now in Limbo as to whether this is actually all going to get ahead (exchange tomorrow/ completion next Friday) or whether the bloke at top will now pull out.

18 weeks of hell so far.

That's pretty much what we did last time we moved, my only mistake was that once the house was empty and all the fuss was over I let the cat out to have a wander around the place for one last time while I went to the new house to unpack a few essentials.

On getting back to the old house I couldn't find the cat.

5 hours later a faint meow revealed she'd climbed on top of the kitchen units, gone down the back of one and then climbed on top of the fitted oven in a small space there. I had to remove the oven to get her out.
