Finally moved into our new home in Devon yesterday, and we only completed when we were 20 mins away from arriving after a 5 hour drive!

An absolute ballache getting everything over the line from the exchange to completion, even though there were only 4 people in the chain.

For those of you aiming to complete on the 30th, I think you’re nuts personally. It’ll be the busiest day for completions in history, and I have no doubt some people are going to be very disappointed. I hope not, I really do, but it will not be smooth sailing on the 30th IMO.

After selling earlier this week I've called up about 2 houses - both apparently under offer but not marked as such online.

Very little coming into the market meeting our criteria right now, tempted to take 6m in rented tbh

I thought we had basically every question answered up and down the chain but today discovered that our vendor has actually been sat on crucial questions for a week so our conveyancer won’t consider dates and no removal companies have availability and the ones that do are inflating prices by 3x and and and ARGH

Finally completed and moved in.

Was up till midnight last night and awake at 6am this morning, removals arrived at 8am and we were ready to go at 12. Fairly stress free.

We made sure our house was spotless, new one is filthy. Going to crack open a beer now and worry about the rest tomorrow.

We’re still waiting for lower chain to sort it out.
7 months now since we offered and accepted an offer.
Agent above us is trying to push it through by the 30th, they tried before and we lost 2k in removal cancellations, convinced all the unsolved issues are resolved.

No news today so money cannot really be organised by solicitors in time anyway for the 30th……which is good because there are no removals available until week one of July……which is when our mortgage agreement runs out!

10months almost to the day of accepting an offer.
A long list of issues
New lease required
Other freeholder in Australia unhelpful.
His needless delay in returning documents caused another 6 week delay, meant the mortgage offer expired,
All this after he had zero costs as we paid them all to try and speed up the crap process.
2 homes sold now in the UK both were meant to be easy
Both weren’t.
Good luck to anyone on this merry go round.

Congratulations and commiserations in equal measure!

Like you our old house was spotless on leaving, and like you sadly our new place was less than spotless, I think they must have stopped cleaning after we put our offer in at the beginning of December - we moved in on the 26th of March frown

I’ve got radio silence from the mortgage provider ( and the broker ) at present. I guess he’s ducked off on holiday without letting me know rolleyes. However everything else is progressing nicely. If I don’t get a satisfactory response to my emails in a couple of weeks, he ( the broker ) can pucker up and kiss my arse. I have other options.

If you are not looking to complete on the next two weeks I’d suggest they are just waiting to get the end of June dealt with…

Possibly. I’m in no rush really, nor is the vendor.

After our first buyer did nothing for 7 weeks, our new buyer has caught up and is ready to complete four weeks after we accepted their offer. Shame we've done nothing about getting ready to move eek

I’m filling and painting all curtain pole holes, picture hook holes etc. Took the wheelie bin and emptied it at the local tip.
Collated all documents
Cleaning throughout.
What does everyone else do.

Ended up simultaneously exchanging and completing today at 3.30pm. Heck of a day.

Put all my important documents in a drawer. Deep in the move decided those drawers would not fit so in the skip.

Wish I remembered the documents first though!

Annoying isn't it. Especially as the seller seemed to be very anal about stuff.

Argh, same with us. We’ve had an indemnity proposed for a small issue for weeks and only now our buyers solicitors have decided to actually propose it to our buyers lenders (and awaiting their response). Our solicitors now saying very unlikely we’ll be able to exchange/complete before 30th as the deadline to request mortgage funds for our onwards purchase has passed on Thursday. So basically their incompetence has likely cost us £10k in SDLT and we’ll end up moving a few days into July - that is IF they actually accept the indemnity altogether. Absolutely sick of the whole thing tbh.

The house I moved out of yesterday had a front door that locked itself on closing, 40 minutes after handing the keys over... the bloke has locked himself out and they called me? Stupidly the estate agents called me as well and I said well you lot have still got keys.

We’re in the same position but this will be the 2nd stamp holiday missed…13k
