This was the next big house up the Dart from where I used to live. Always loved it and the guy who owned it was a really decent chap. Used to tool around in a completely trashed 911 cab. (hood was torn off and missing), a 100% original unrestored DB4 and take his son to school in a helicopter if he was running late. Sadly he passed away and the place was sold for several millions.

What's so desirable about Dartmouth? I see it posted a lot on this thread but have never been.

The tables and chairs to the left belong to the Dart Marina hotel and if the agent had turned the camera to the left you would be overlooking the car park

Hmm... I didn’t check the location of that one! It makes the asking price of £2m look rather ambitious.

For house price to local restaurant price ratio, that must be the biggest bargain in the whole of Devon wink

The marina properties are always ambitiously priced. But someone must pay it I guess. There are far nicer properties in the town for the money I always think.

You know when somewhere has the air of 'this'll need a stload of money spending on it in the not-too-distant future'?

Oh and get an agent who can spell aerial FFS if you want me to drop £8M hehe

Definitely an endless money pit, like most old houses of this size. But I would if I could smile

It's a tourist town popular with the yacht brigade bolstered by the Naval college and Naval history.

Great place to visit (ie, have a holiday home), annual events such as the regatta in August and very popular at new year.

It's "nice" but once you have lived there a while, especially through a few winters, the novelty diminishes.

You have to wonder what "some" means!

The railway magnate was Thomas Brassey who died two years before the house was built for his son H A Brassey, who had nothing to do with railways. If you are desperately trying to up the price by alleging historical links, then at least get the right person. That should knock a good half million off if anyone here is interested. smile

We have been looking at all of the property linked on this thread, and weirdly, we both looked at this and thought the complete opposite. Just shows we all like different things smile

Love this house but the problem with places like this is that even if you only paid £1 for it the cost of the full proper refurb will be probably still more than it might be worth, you really need to not care about the money and love the building to take on a money pit.
