Nice house. Likely by Robert Adam or Ben Pentreath, judging by the excellent detailing.
Tiny plot and by far the best house in the village, so not for me.
I’m not a fan of pastiches at all, but this is well done. I’m not sure it’s by Adam or Pentreath though; given their standing in architectural circles I’m sure the EA would state it in the ad. Tiny plot and by far the best house in the village, so not for me.

That 'TV Room' is hilarious (pic 11) . Can you imagine all lined up in a row with necks craned upwards to see the large screen suspended 5 foot off the floor. I never understand why people do this, TVs should be at eye level when seated on your favourite couch not up in the air! RichB said:

Presumably there are planning reasons why there are no windows in the North/South faces of the house? Those rooms at each end feel a bit compromised because of it.

If you like to slouch back, put your feet up and relax it makes a bit more sense!

Love that. It's definitely overbuilt for the plot but that means less maintenance, the garden is big enough to have your mates round for a bbq and I love that it's walled. The driveway is enough for a few cars and again the wall makes it fairly private.I'd have to repurpose some of the rooms and that big TV above the fireplace is awful but there's plenty of space inside to make it perfect.

The interior isn't my bag, but the exterior? I think it's a lovely building, certainly not awful, imo.
I like the garden elevation (excluding the dormers) but the front is a bit 'McMansion'. The combination of flat topped and rounded windows (above the door) is a bit jarring and I don't like the columns. That said, I think the photos are slightly wide angle which is not flattering.Nothing a bit of ivy wouldn't fix.

Yeah that and the 'library' that are linked to each other seem particularly pointless rooms without enough to swing much of a cat, let alone watch a 65" tv or read any of the non existent books.
It's a shame - I really like the outside of the house (although quite a small garden for it) - but the interior could have been so much better with some relatively easy tweaksGassing Station | Homes, Gardens and DIY | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
