I'm sure this will divide opinion - not my cup of tea but I've driven past it for years and it's certainly different - gotta love a turret!

The house is tidy enough, with planning for another. And all the land aswell. But that location. So much want.

that actually took my breath away - stunning (I liked the proposed new build too)
That’s lovely. Need to be committed to living literally in the middle of nowhere though.
Wow. Is this somewhere wet and cold for 8 months and then full of midges for the remaining 4, though?
Aye, unfortunately you've more or less nailed it.

I'd still have it in a heartbeat though yes

As for passing harsh judgement - taste is personal and subjective.
Kind of ironic you posting that when you're happy to offer an opinion on the trainers thread laugh
What's ironic?

I always qualify that it's my opinion. As opposed to passing judgement as though I am the sole arbiter of taste, and looking down my nose at anything that doesn't conform to my tastes.

So no, not ironic at all. Feel free to find a quote from me that suggests otherwise.

JoshCowin & Gameface are regulars of both threads, I'm sure they'll tell me if I'm talking bks or not.

Apologies to everyone else for the derail.

You 100% look down your nose at trainers that aren't to your taste. And that's fine. It's normal. Everyone does it to an extent.

"Seriously, those are definitely among the ugliest trainers I've seen posted on this thread - imo."

Adding 'imo' at the end doesn't mean that you're not disparaging the trainers. Of course it's your opinion and so long as you know others will think differently, and you're cool with that, which you are, then the world keeps turning.

Anyway, most of the comments here about refusing to buy an £8m house or whatever because there's a sex pond in the garden are made tongue in cheek, but you recognise that surely?

Edited by phil_cardiff on Sunday 28th February 23:15
You've taken a post of mine completely out of context in an attempt to prove your point.

Here's the context, with my bold for emphasis -

Someone convince me these NB Pro Court Cups aren't brilliant looking. £75 on the official website and about £40 in all the right places. Tempting stuff!
I say again - I don't look down my nose at the choices of others, because choice and taste is subjective. The above was said in within context, and qualified with it being my opinion.

I don't, not have I ever, acted as though I am the sole arbiter of taste - which is where the roots of this particular bicker stems.

Regardless, this is as much as I'm willing to indulge you and I won't be responding further.

Edited by TheJimi on Monday 1st March 08:36
I don't think anyone on this thread has ever genuinely believed they alone have good taste.

I'm happy to leave it there also. Thanks for 'indulging' me biggrin

Just to clarify Phil, you are taking a pop at Jimi over stating an opinion on your house that you've just bought?

OR is it a random high worth property that none of us on here will ever even visit!?

In the trainers thread (you mentioned the thread) its a different thing, we are quite friendly I'd happily meet up with anyone on there for a beer, and all just say it as it is, I don't think anyone has ever got upset on there, apart from some obvious trolling at one point! Despite some regular posters paying £200+ on trainer we will say gross not our thing and move on, no one gets upset! Clearly its different here based on your comments alone.

I just found it ironic that Jimi objected to some strong (and I suspect tongue in cheek) comments expressing a personal taste when that's the done thing on the trainers thread.

That's all. Certainly nothing for anyone to get upset over, I know I'm not and I'm sure Jimi isn't either.

Jimi wants to leave it there and I think that's a good idea. We can agree to disagree in an adult fashion and move on. You never know, it might catch on smile

Your obviously trolling with this comment wink

Can you imagine a world were grown men don't bicker on the internet smile

As you were, I actually really enjoy this thread as you said some quite funny comments are made! I was triggered at the wall hung TV'S with wires chased into the wall, I have since conceded that I am council and as such just cannon fodder for the average PH'er!

Plot with a lake in the Lake district.

"In summer months, take your meals al fresco on the glass fronted balcony, which runs the full length of the front of the house, and watch the brown trout leaping lazily in the last light of dusk. "
I would have preferred the original house and working with that but even by Lake District standards that's expensive for a building plot with a pond and no other view that I can make out.
The road is pretty busy as well in peak season.

Rather have this in the same village leaving plenty to update, extend, renovate and it's got a killer view.

Inclined to agree.

Equally though, if I'm moving to the lakes and spending 7 figures, I'd want a lake view of some description.

I love a turret! the house we are selling has one, we also have a peat burner just like the one in that house - but that's all I like about it.

If a house was ever the bd child of Louis X1V & Barbara Cartland..... this is it.

Yup, I’d want to be nearer to a lake for that sort of money too (and preferably not Windermere, which is just too busy).
