Which is irrelevant really as all the furniture etc. won’t be there when you move in. Most of it appears quite neutral/nice if you ignore the furniture. Only thing that would need changing is kitchen, worktops doesn’t quite suit property imo.
Wine cellar and entertainment room though...

Also they'll sell this furnished (as it says in the listing, this is an option) to some tasteless with plenty of cash, much like the ones in the estates in surrey.
Thanks - I don’t have the cash, but I love the combination of period features and the decor, so clearly I’m a “tasteless ”. biggrin

Have to say I thought the juxtaposition would be jarring, but I really like it.

ETA: some of the furniture choices aren’t to my taste, and I’m not sure that I’d have picked the chandeliers, but overall the decor works for me.

Looks good, but it's got really low ceilings throughout, and Kilmarnock was a hole when I went through about 8 years ago.

(Although Kilmarnock is one of only 3 fish to start and end with K.)

Bit blingy in places, but I'd be hard pressed to day I didn't like it.
Love that.

Honestly, if you have the means to purchase. The horrid (IMO) interior Décor is definitely no biggy.

I like lowish ceilings, particularly in Scotland, cheaper to heat. I'm only 5'9".

Yes I'd avoid Kilmarnock like the plague (which it closely resembles) but for trips to "town" I'd be going to Ayr or Strathaven. I pretty much live with online groceries and the vast majority of other needs these days, and seldom bother restaurants, cinemas etc. This joint would suit me down to the ground. Glorious. Season ticket to the Honest Men and I'm set for life.

I'm currently really loving this place. Not full of catalogue grey chic, not a McMansion with an awful huge portico and a lovely private garden. If it was in the right area for me I'd be trying to find a way to make it work!

Nice but rather than being an estate it is on an estate!

I wonder how they manage solar gain?

Other than that, well and the price, I like it.

But it'll be hideously overpriced because of what they've done and the market they're aiming at.

Oh, and anything listed on Modern House is at least 20% more expensive than it should be, they're flogging a house on the next road to me for 1.6 million, it's probably worth 1.1 on a good day.

Woah. There's an estate of them.
You're right though, quite nicely done considering.

I saw that, but I don't think I mind. The one linked seems to have arguably the best plot, and with the patio area being to the side of the house I don't think you'd worry about noise if you were out there late at night. If the neighbours were decent it would be nice to have a bit of community rather than be completely out on your own (admittedly that would be very hopeful)

If I lived there, I wouldn't bother with Kilmarnock for anything other than a bit of supermarket shopping.

That's a cracking place, with LOADS of cool details. Easy and fast access to Glasgow as well.

I wonder if they will bother to learn the language.
Interesting comment - never been to Anglesey but do the "locals" generally communicate in Welsh, tradesmen, shops etc?
Yes. Some do. There are schools which teach English as a second language.

I was in a butcher's shop with my dad, speaking English, him, with his Lancashire accent, and the staff were having a conversation in Welsh, which was intended to be private. They seemed shocked when my Dad ordered in Welsh, and made comment about the weather. I assume it's rather like the trips I made to the same French hotel on business about 6 times in the 90s. After the 2nd trip I had stared evening classes in French, and started to practise. Could I havev a table, etc. Guess what? All if a sudden they speak perfect English and have a menu in English.
Same with the locals according to.my mum. They know she's trying and failing, so they help her out and speak English.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I pictured the Jive scene in Airplane…

Spot on.

Not often I see somewhere that I could just move into, but that's one of them.

Whenever I've got that close to Chichester it's been standing room only.
