Whenever I've got that close to Chichester it's been standing room only.
Commute into London?

I'd cycle to Barnham instead.

As it is, I've loved living in the close area the last 20ish years (having moved from Twickenham). Yes, it's a little more awkward for a daily commute than pretty much anywhere else on the South Coast - but that has it's benefits too.

I drive over the Downs instead (last time I worked in London I stayed through the week) - although that's going from a daily 120 mile commute to perhaps twice a week post Covid.

I lived in London for several years. Paris for one year. I've never seen worse traffic congestion than in Chichester.

Ah, it's genuinely not that bad. Summer weekends are fun when everyone is desperate to get to the Wittering and Goodwood is on, but otherwise it's fine. There's a fair few back roads that skips the bulk of the congestion hot points.

TBF, I've been about ten times. Different days, different times, different seasons. It's always been absolutely horrible. smile

Couple of very minor tweaks to the decor, and I'm done.
Yes. If it had a pool, it would be perfect.

It's lacking something which I can't put my finger on perhaps another room downstairs.

Perhaps a layout like this:

I was about to say that this is a stunning property but then I checked the map… It’s close to the M4 unfortunately. The people who owned it when the motorway was built must have been devastated.

That, and again it's one of those properties that has a converted stable as a garage. Not deep enough for cars so Ah'm oot.

The M4 is in that photo. Behind the house. About half a mile, maybe more. It’s in a bit of a cutting.

I doubt you’d be able to hear it in the garden near the swimming pool. It’s behind the house after all.

Perhaps knock a few quid off.

I live 4 miles from the M3 as the crow flies and if the wind is in the right direction, you can hear it. Not much, but it is there.
For this money I would want silence but otherwise it is just splendid.

Love the architecture. How I would want my country home to look.

Yes, that’s very nice. Seem to recall it was on that Scotland Home of the Year TV show a couple,of years back. Not shy with the piece though - there are plenty of country piles available for that kind of money around there.

If you poke around on streetview, you can see the two derelict buildings before they were combined...

sort of took the character away of the old buildings and made it like every other new build.

i like the mix of old and new. lots of light/big windows. but has still kept some of the walls as features. no idea why you'd wana live in a cramped looking stone house when you have views like that.

I had to double check that you were talking about the same property.
