I'm into this. I think the "wraparound" kitchen might actually work quite well, hard to see what else you'd put in a small circular room. Would be changing the tiles in the living area though.
Every single thing would need to be bespoke, is the only issue. But I think they've done a good job of actually using the circular shapes here. Not often you see that.
Looking at the pics again, I wonder if some of the oast rooms are going to be quite dark?

yes Not much to commend it architecturally and the interior’s not very special. And £2.25m? rofl

I know, it’ll be a tight squeeze - there’s just me, my wife and three cats, so we might have to do a loft conversion….

As for a thread of its own, I should probably do one, but progress will be slow as it’s my sort of retirement project (only 53, so not past it yet!) and we’re not starting it until the Spring.

I’ve had my own bespoke kitchen firm for some time, so we’re really going to go for it in there - think: island as big as Guernsey, separate larder and pantry, booth seating etc.

The first job is this:

Going to make it into a workshop and garage
Did some internet stalking and that's a great find, I'd recommended taking photos/video with commentary as you renovate not to make a thread (which would be nice) but more that I regret not doing it when we knocked down & rebuilt our (much less impressive) place

Usual pig farm or something 50 meters away, but still.
A vineyard on your doorstep. Will suit prospective alcoholic.

Correction apples, pears, plums, gooseberries, blackcurrants and hops - https://www.southeastfarmer.net/section/news/marst...

So beer & cider on your doorstep.

Vast rooms are not always the answer.

Another one in that SW area we were discussing the other week - if it'd been prime Scotland there'd be bigger numbers at the top of the ad., I guess.

Lovely thing, much wine cellaring!

I moved from this area last year. Countryside is lovely but its cold and rainy most of the time. Nearest town is Girvan which is a dump.

This is what we sold in same valley. https://www.onthemarket.com/details/8975885/

Thank you, lovely house spoiled by local land owner getting planning for houses in field opposite, totally spoiling the view. We moved just as first application was rejected.

Yes, an old VR box, still emptied daily. House had been village shop/post office in its 350 year history.

That’s a really nice traditional Scottish cottage*, unlike a lot of the dire ones that have been constructed since the sixties allo over Scotland - bungalows with broad span, shallow-pitched roofs, huge picture windows and pink harled walls eek

  • or ‘But and Ben’ as my Scottish Mum used to call them smile

Cool smile

My village has a cottage with the same kind of box.

Where did you move to, just out of pure nosiness - no exactly locations needed!

Surprised there is so much love for this tbh!

The kitchen has been done well but apart from that these houses are fairly common in Kent. We have worked on around 10 in the last 15 years! I have a current client who has an awesome oast that we have extended and modernised for him.

I've seen a few of these too (shamefully I have family near Faversham redface), but I haven't seen many where the building attached to the oast is quite as attractive or well-proportioned as the timber framed barn here. The ones I have seen either have a more modern building with an awkward narthex in between, or have tried to get the whole house in the oast (which doesn't really work).

Put up for sale by the CEO of Shell, so we know why it's for sale as well:
