That seems to have an awful lot of metal in it for something to have near a chainsaw chain. <clip>
I imagine it’s still safer than doing the same task on a pile of wood on the ground though!
I first cut off anything overhanging to the right (I'm right handed), then I simply cut down between each of the uprights. Standing to the left of the cut I don't find it a problem.
Well I ordered one first thing this morning so I’ll find out soon enough, I think it’ll fit my immediate needs well (lots of 2-3” stuff), I’ll see how I get on with it and maybe buy the forest master thing later on.

I've got some Eucalyptus logs to split, boy they're hard work.

I've been told they need to be cut within a couple of weeks of felling. If you're using them for firewood I'd be interested to know if they're any good.

Well a series of storms has given me plenty of branches and small trees to chop up, the density of trees in my garden seems to be getting eroded at a worrying rate!

It’s effective, far faster and easier than chopping up the stuff on the ground.
There’s a decent gap between the bottom bit of wood and the supporting frame so cutting into steel isn’t too much of an issue.

The 14” bar on my chainsaw was getting a bit fecked after over a year of very regular use (from an inexperienced user) so I’ve bought a 16” replacement as it covers the full width of the buck nicely.

It's probably a bit girly for a real chainsaw user, but I have one of these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/143916029701?epid=12052... which clamps the bar and completely shields you from the chain itself. Works really well for smaller logs (anything under say 9 or 10 inches, depending on your bar length).
I use exactly the same one. Works well.

We had a log burner fitted a few years ago , and contacted the local tree surgeon for a supply of wood, he delivered this lot.
for reference to size , there is a Audi Q5 hidden behind it !!!

took me best part of 3 months to cut and chop by hand

My bolding.
I've got a bit of euc. Needs a long season but once done burns well. Mine's been seasoning for 18months and much is still not dry enough - feels heavy, sizzle in the chimney. I mix with pine & ash as that's what I have. I occasionally chop a couple of bits smaller and if I can smell it I put it back. I'm hoping that this summer will be enough that I can burn it in earnest.

Has your chain been sharpened recently? Might be all that is needed - it makes a massive difference to performance

+1
Otherwise it's man maths time - more powerful chainsaw purchase incoming smile

Also saws and grenades are generally for different tasks - sawing wink and splitting respectively.

I was dicing through 1m across rounds with my Worx corded chainsaw (fresh blade) so definitely sharpen the blade. Will be a whole lot easier than using a wood grenade!

Or do you have rounds and need to split it down? If so, the chainsaw will be tough work (and will make a mess) - getting a splitting maul and put the work in biggrin

After recently moving to a very rural area, roads can often be blocked by large trees. If I were to say have a chain saw (or even a hand saw) in the vehicle and part of the said tree were to end up in the back of my car - would this be illegal?
