Lamont appliances are crappy. You really want Bosch / neff / Siemens or zanussi / hotpoint if price main issue.induction not electric hob.

What’s on the other side of the wall with sink, if it’s an external wall there I’d swap over hob and sink to enable an extractor to be fitted.
I guess that must be a downdraft hob (Bora), rather than just a hob without extraction.

Mine being done in a couple of months (after extn finished)
Around 25k all in, that is for ‘pre-built’ units/quartz worktop
The wife insisted on Miele everything, the appliances are 7.5 k of the above
Kitchen fitter around 2.5k as I just want it done, rather than spend weeks myself!
The one saving so far, purchased an ex display hood from Ebay. £500 rather than 2k, not a mark on it.

Extraction has proved to be a bit of a problem due to the length and shape of run to an outside wall not being considered before the roof went on. We now only have space for undersized extraction or a recirculating hood.

Current front runner is this:

We won’t be going with lamona appliances, they’re just the ones specced, but everything else is only going to increase the cost. I need to get Howdens down significantly or go elsewhere!

A friend found Howden’s quote improved dramatically when shown the price for the equivalent from the competition (Wickes, I think).

I'd be very skeptical about how well a recirculating ceiling fan will work, we've got an expensive 90cm ceiling fan over our Island with a whopping 6" duct to vent outside of and that's nowhere near as good at extracting than the budget 60cm wall mounted extractor between two units using a crappy corrugated pipe in our old kitchen, simply because of the physics involved of open all 4 sides and being further away from the steam source. Add in the additional restrictions of recirculating filters and I can't see it being that great.

Looks bloody MILES away from the hob in that photo as well! I can't imagine that doing much extraction at all.

Yep ours is a lot closer than that in an island canopy about 25cm below ceiling level and it's still not amazing.

We’re at the ‘design is almost finalised’ stage with Howdens and have just had a price through. Lamona appliances, all your standard kitchen stuff - oven/hob/dw/tall fridge/tall freezer, but no worktops - they’ve come back at 11k laugh

The guys assuring me this is a ‘good’ rate, with little movement, but I’ve submitted the details to DIY for a comparison.

What discount is built into that price? When we bought a kitchen, we got 70% off virtually without asking.

Just got costing from Howdens by email for this month's dungeon's full kitchen renovation's materials: £1335.72 + £267.15 vat

Actually just noticed 24x 2.4m scotia trim packs for dungeon's laminate flooring's been included in the kitchen bill so subtract £114.96 + vat from that.

Bill in full provided by forwarding to anyone who pm's me an email address.

I ‘should’ have received a decent price to begin with, confirmed use of two separate trade accounts with decent discount structure, but it seems as neither are for my local branch they’re not too interested. I’ve had pricing through based on plans from DIY kitchens and units are coming back 30% lower. I’ll give them another crack once I’ve got the final spec done, but I’m not holding out much hope.

We’re happy for the hood to sit a bit lower than ceiling level but don’t want to restrict the view across the room with a low hood. I’m not expecting miracles, but fingers crossed it’ll do what it needs to.

I’ve not been shown the discounts, which I was on a previous order 4 years back. I can’t imagine there isn’t anything, but couldn’t say what! I’d guess prices have been affected by timber increases, but DIY have proven Howdens to be way off the mark.

That could be helpful if I don’t get anywhere, thanks! I’ll be in rouch if a back up plans needed.

We've just started a kitchen / diner extension and the fridge / freezer will be set into the wall just like yours is. However I've assumed the doors would need to sit proud of the opening so they'll open fully - does yours work OK as it is?

Also, I'm intrigued by the light pelmet: did you do that to hide the lighting or was it needed for some other reason?

OP - I know you only used Wren as an example but please do some research online if you decide to go with them. There is an FB group full of people who have experiences that would make you think twice.

That is a fantastic kitchen for 20k!
Having also had a joke of a quote from wren, it’s great to see what can be achieved by project managing yourself rather relying on them to rip you off/muck it up
