How long did it take you to fit that? Are you short? I’ve been up all night worrying.....

Well I slept like a baby, partly because I wasn’t sweating all night, but mainly because I had triggered a few of the PH trolls 😂

You’re new. Can I get you a parrot or will you supply your own? Your irony was cock on.

Why does some cretin have to start a fight or wind-up on an aircon thread? I mean... Really?

The fact that you aren't getting any at home, or ineed at all, and wish to vent your limp ducked frustration on a bunch of people discussing how to cool their homes, is desperately sad and of absolutely no interest to me, or anyone else.

Stop it. Grow up.

Not interested enough to post on the internet, on how disinterested you are. Brilliant 🤩

You’re quite right. I’ll desist.

Yesterday I finally completed the wiring install and turned on. I had a disappointingly warm night.

Today after a bit more research I opened up the second valve! Instant coolness. Can't wait for tonight!

You're in for a treat. I run mine almost every night - even if it's not 'hot' as such, it lowers the humidity as well as keeping a lid on the temperature. And of course if it is hot (and as a loft conversion with no through-draft, it gets horribly warm up there after a sunny day) then within half an hour it's dropped the room from 30C to 20C.

I sleep like a baby with it running, it makes such a difference to overnight comfort. Cool, dry, and no outside noise coming in from open windows.

Do people who have done the units themselves know if with the DIY kits I could have the condenser on the outside of the house and ground level and run enough pipe to go up the side of the house, into the loft and then down into the split unit?

I'd hate to see the outside unit on side of the house so would prefer it at ground level and the wall I want the unit on inside is a stud wall in the middle of our master bedroom.

I'm not sure you could get that much pipework without needing additional gas, etc

The Electriq kit I used came with a 5m length of pipe, and enough 'precharge' gas in the external unit for that length only. To extend the pipework you have to add small amounts of refrigerant - extra amount per m listed in the manual. Max pipe length was quoted as 15m I think.

I think other manufacturers vary - I'm sure I saw specs for some (possibly Daikin) that stated the precharge amount was good for a 10m pipe run.

The cost not issue is the condensate drain as you need a suction pump.

It f you can go straight out the wall it’s easier and what we have done in pictures just a few posts back

For anyone that wants to control the air con via an app, this was a circa £180 option for mine and the app didn't get great reviews. I bought one of these, an IR blaster that integrates with the Tuya app. £15 and it works great, I turn the aircon on 15 minutes before bed and it's already on its way to cooling down the room when I get up there.

I've got a few Tuya devices and the app has always worked really well.

Anyone else been smug and keeping quiet they have a/c while listening to others complain on zoom/teams about the heat.

Interesting. The same manufacturer also does one which has temperature and humidity sensors built in that you can use to automate it (and direct from China is half the price of Amazon).

My ElectriX kit came with built in app and it’s bloody marvellous. I’m currently in Cornwall and am turning all the AC zones on and off from my phone to keep house and bar cool some 300 miles away. Daughter is house sitting so enjoying coming in from work to a nice cool fresh house .

I’m guessing I’ve had a broken one delivered, the app can’t find it and there is no sign it’s on?

Could be using the Tuya back end, I’ve come across a couple of devices where they’ve taken the Tuya app and reskinned it with their logos etc. If you think about it it makes sense for smaller companies, why develop an app and maintain servers etc when you can license an established reliable platform.

The Fujitsu and Daikin apps I was looking at got poor reviews, and cost extra to boot.

There’s a little button on the bottom, you long press it and a tiny blue led should start flashing to say it’s in pairing mode.

If you’ve done that already it probably a dud one

This was standard with the kit. App is called Smart Life.
