And does it have WiFi control?
No, it doesn't appear to have. The box says Google & Alexa compatible, but there's nothing in the manuals about it.Looks like wifi might be optional?

If you look on http://www.airconditioningcentre.com/product-categ... there's some set-up instructions there (look at the product details). Looks like wifi might be optional.
Coolio. Mine is the IW/AG, not the new IW/AG-H from the looks of it. Still couldn't find further details. Would be handy though if I could switch it off remotely :-)catfood12 said:

No, it doesn't appear to have. The box says Google & Alexa compatible, but there's nothing in the manuals about it.One of the great joys of this is saying “Alexa, set living room aircon to twenty“ from almost anywhere in the house.
This will have to be swiftly disabled once the kids are old enough to game it, obviously.

Well my £130 intesis wifi ir module for cloud control failed after 3 weeks, and the supplier was an absolute about giving a refund, had to lose my composure in the shop and get a bit loud until they relented and refunded me, so i tried a wee £9 tuya unit off amazon and it works much better than the intesis unit. The intesis unit was slow to respond and sometimes missed commands before it went pop so lesson learned there, more expensive doesn't mean better, but it was the unit the wholesaler recommended.
I am irritated that inspent a week in back and forward with intesis support before they finally agreed it was faulty.
Loving the mitsi unit though, its very quiet and regulates very well, going to get another one for the gym. From a different supplier this time though.

One of my brothers has just had it fitted to his bedroom. It cost £1,400
A Panasonic unit AIUI.
One thing I'd suggest is that the external unit is located at the back of the house. They look gopping if at the front.

He did ask if we would mind if it was placed on the side but it wouldve been right next to the spare bedroom window and I didn't want it whirring away all the time, especially if we have kids at any point soon. (Curently used as my office).
It's far from attractive.... dont know why they didn't put the unit at ground level and box it in....
Sorry for the photo quality...
I think it's just a question of familiarity (or rather lack thereof). We live part of the time in Bulgaria and the things are plastered all over every house there. You simply don't notice them anymore after a few days, they blend in like down-pipes or meter boxes or any of the other random things which get stuck to the outside of houses.
To my eyes, the weird planking on the gable end of that house looks far worse than the air-con unit!

I can understand on a block of flats or similar, but not on house where is plenty of external space at low level. If nothing else just to provide access for future maintenance.MattyD803 said:

From a practical standpoint, you want the external unit mounted as close as possible to the internal unit. You also want as much air-flow over the unit, at as close to ambient temperature as possible; you'd have to be seriously worried about the looks to put one in a hidden corner or worse still box one in!
There might be a minimal level of efficiency improvement by having the indoor and outdoor unit close together, but it's negligible - decent quality split systems (Daikin, Mitsi, LG, Fujitsu) are typically designed to have up to 20-25m length of pipe work between them, although I appreciate this increases installation effort a little, we're not talking much. Especially when you start needing the type of support bracket as shown.Ideally you want the external unit floor mounted so as to simplify install and minimise risks during installation and future maintenance, but also minimise/remove the risk of vibration transfer into the brick work - not to mention safety of the unit in high winds. The performance of the outdoor unit located at low level, assuming minimum stand off from the wall are maintained, will not be affected.
There is no getting away from the fact that whilst the unit will work and serve it's purpose, it looks absolutely horrendous in a typical UK domestic environment and serves no functional benefit.
As I said, familiarity I guess. It looks fine to me and frankly if it was my house I couldn't really care less what anyone else thinks.
ETA: Mind you if and when we get air con I'll still get it fitted to the side wall not the front. We don't have the problem of neighbour's windows facing the side walls of our house and whilst I don't find the looks remotely offensive, I'd still rather not have a huge white box on the front of my house. I certainly won't put the unit at ground level though.
