I always find it mazing the difference a couple of days can make.

The new living room is really taking shape now and all the suspended floors, bar one, have been stripped back. These are all going to be replaced with an insulated slab with UFH.

Weather permitting, the new roof could be on in a couple of weeks!

Renting just up the same road so easy to keep an eye on things.

Yes, they’re really cracking on.

Looking good, we've had the joinery for the roof on this week and then roof on next week..

Kitchen is being installed in 6 weeks...

Sounds good - the same stuff we’re getting hopefully.

Btw - I hear you visited our neighbours recently in Bish! Feel free to pop in for a cuppa next time.

Latest pictures from today.

We lost 4 days due to bad weather and waiting for the scaffolding to turn up, but since then the guys have been really moving. The new concrete slab was pumped in a week ago and this week has been all about roof timbers and completing the woodwork and deck for the flat roof sections.

The windows were all measured on Tuesday and we should get the roof lantern in the next 2 weeks so that we can fully weathertight the roof. We also have the stud walls for the bathroom in place.

Any reason why you didn’t opt for underfloor heating?

I did smile

We still have insulation, UFH pipes and screed to go on top of the slab!

I’m confused by your finished floor height then, your slab looks to be up to exterior door level?

It's over a full brick below FFL so plenty of room for insulation above the slab and UFH and screed.

It's over a full brick below FFL. We only need 50mm or so for the liquid screed and UFH I believe so plenty of room. The slab is already insulated, that was not clear from my post.
Ah now it makes sense with the insulation under the slab. What was the reason for doing it that way? You’ll be heating the concrete slab up which will be huge waste of energy.

Edited the above as it was misleading.

As far as I am aware, there is insulation to go on top of there slab which the UFH pipes are clipped to and then the screed over that. So we wont be heating the slab.

Similarly, we have,
Slab
Insulation
Cables (power, CAT6, all in conduit)
Insulation
UFH (in egg box type structure)
Screed
Ceramic tiles

Interesting that you have a layer of insulation then cabling then another layer of insulation. That seems like an inefficient and costly (both money and time) way of doing it. I’d have though laying the conduit in the concrete slab layer would have been easier?
