You got the electricity sorted then?
Nah, he is using a small child to generate the power for the lights.

I thought this was a wind up but clearly not, glad its sorted although seems an unusual approach.

Unless you are racing, why run tubs? Yes the feel nice, but nothing to be gained for general riding/training. PITA to get repaired, expensive etc. Get yourself a singlespeed with mudguards for the winter - proper training.

Have your LABC signed it all off now?
What? All plans for a bathroom/kitchen have clearly been cancelled, as you can see in the lack of flooring, the soil/waste pipes in those areas, and the sockets being at countertop level. If the PP bods do visit, they will surely not bat an eyelid at their presence.

Well at least if you need somewhere to stand your bike up you can just stuff a tyre in one of the gaps in the floor.

Fair play to you but do you ever think cheapest isn't always best?
And often not the cheapest!

Not difficult when you know how. You and your ‘expert’ just don’t know how. I laid this on my own in a long weekend.

Wow, that looks ace. Proper parquet?
I have to say I think that looks amazing. I'm in the process (a long and drawn out process due to various factors, not least a global pandemic) of renovating and extending my place which will include all the floors being redone. Engineered floors in light oak are going to run from front door through the length of the house and new extension but I think parquet like that will work very well in the front room.

Is this suitable to go over underfloor heating?

I haven't read all of the posts on here but of the ones I did read there's a lot of wrong information.

Also those op "floor fitters" need sacking they haven't got a clue a solid oak floor can be laid on battens but that nail gun isn't going to cut it, the boards need to be secret nailed with a portanailer. They can be bought for just over £200 or hired for not very much.

You have arrived about a week to late, but if you know anything about underfloor heating under a solid wood floor you might be useful.

There will also be the little matter of installing a basement, a shower, toilet and a kitchen when the planners eventually leave him alone.

It is going to be the best gym / storage shed in the county smile

Yeah, don't do it. Solid oak floors are much more prone to expansion/movement that an engineered floor. Also are you planning on sticking the floor down or floating it over the ufh?

Sorry I can't help with the other issues

My brother fitted solid wood floor in his living room, laid onto membrane over concrete floor, not glued or nailed. It soon lifted when it expanded presumably due to humidity? Had to trim the edge against one wall, but it expanded and lifted again.
Clearly he should have got the fitters that RuinEveryInchOfTheWorld used.

At least it would be easy to take it apart

Those battens will easily hold a ceiling for the basement, so that's one less worry. wink
