no problem. If you have problems with the IR remote not working in that position you can use the main Sky Q bluetooth remotes with the Mini as well.
Of course now I wish I'd got a double socket put in behind the TV instead of a single! Something like this should do the job though: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/133416099498?chn=ps&...

Maybe mount the Sky box vertically behind the TV and avoid any cables coming down?
That's what I have. Some super sticky velcro on the Sky box stuck to the back of the TV. I have the IR front of the box flush with the top or side of the TV so the remote works fine. I didn't install the kitchen I hasten to add, so that socket not being behind the TV makes my teeth itch.Having said that, given what loco said, I'm sure I have a Bluetooth one around spare somewhere.....The only issue with the BT remotes is that they're not 'supported' anymore in the sense that once upon a time you could disable the touchpad part of it, my wife and kids hated it (I quite liked it) but now there isn't that option in the menu anymore.

Thats slightly annoying, I hate the touch interface as well and in our kitchen I've buried some 32mm waste pipe with a 90 elbow on each end in the wall between the TV and the kitchen unit below so the TV can sit on the wall and the Sky Q box can sit in the unit below with the HDMI and aerial passing up the pipe to the TV. For that I'll have to use the bluetooth remote thats been sat in the drawer for years given the IR will have no hope of comminicating to the mini box inside the unit.LocoBlade said:

A bigger TV will easily cover that unsightly plug socket. Get a short HDMI cable while you are at it.Having said that, given what loco said, I'm sure I have a Bluetooth one around spare somewhere.....The only issue with the BT remotes is that they're not 'supported' anymore in the sense that once upon a time you could disable the touchpad part of it, my wife and kids hated it (I quite liked it) but now there isn't that option in the menu anymore.

Ooh thanks, didn't know they existed
Ahhh, didn't realise they were a new thing, as those are what I've got so I wasn't quite sure why you were worried about what controller you were going to use. Makes sense now. Edited by LocoBlade on Thursday 10th June 11:57

There's bluetooth controllers and IR controllers and seemingly more than one of the former. When first released the main Sky Q box came with two remotes, one touch remote that was bluetooth (horrible thing, ended up in the drawer on day 2!) and one regular IR remote. The Mini's just came with the regular IR remote that looks like the newer bluetooth one linked above but with slightly different button layout. Not sure what the Mini's come with now, perhaps they all come with the same bluetooth remote as the main box do they?
Yeah I think they do, as I've now got 2 mini boxes and main box, all 3 came with the same bluetooth remote in the link above. Edited by LocoBlade on Thursday 10th June 11:57

Put an offer in on our first home today, and already dreaming about the potential extension we plan to do if we get it.. your thread has been great reading, and very informative! Love the kitchen, and the bifold window is a brilliant idea .. will be following
Glad it's been helpful to you. If nothing else I like that I have a place where I've put lots of photos in a bit of chronological order, quite nice to look back on. We're not TOO far off. Bedrooms will be decorated next week, then really just bathrooms and bedroom carpets to go.
