To be fair on that one, the monkey puzzle was in a ridiculously stupid place in the garden. I thought their finished item was a real success.
Yep, and only going to get more difficult to manage (although admittedly they grow slowly). And apparently the dropped needles are lethal!I thought that one was a good result for the money, watched it last night.

(leased).
More info can be found here, but it's not really relevant to this thread.

To be fair though, my hunch the car was leased wasn't that relevant either, so I guess that makes things even.

The barbeque was probably another £1k.
I think it was the Ooni pizza oven for £499.... can cook pizzas in 60 seconds... for when you’re in a hurry I guess. We loved watching the house renovation version, the garden one has not been so good to date. I guess half the problem is that the garden needs a while to establish, perhaps revisit them in 3 years and they will be more like the designs.
We need to completely redo our garden so it’s good timing for ideas, but the costs are blooming scary - 66k on a garden that wasn’t that amazing in the end seems like madness. Still not figured how they spent 8k on that little garden. My first thought was how much of a pain it would be to have to mow that tiny strip of grass

Doing large garden relandscaping is expensive. As one of the designers said, £30/m2 doesn’t seem like much but over a large area and with the sub base and labour it becomes £150/m2.
The final implementation was very different to the design, probably some practical issues to move the bikes down the garden. But poor of the designer not to take that into account initially. Also it was lacking in entertaining space and although o liked the concept of the seating area by the fireplace, it was wrong to only have 1 chair as it’s not very likely someone would light the fire for just themselves. Personally I much preferred the second design, it was much more practical.
Filming the finished garden in late Autumn did it no favours. It will probably look much better in a couple of years time.
The £8k garden was a poor design I thought. Not a welcoming space at all nor even particularly nice to look at.

Two pages in and no one has mentioned Angela yet...?
I did a bit of googling. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2dUs6Dpa98
The £66k seemed a lot of money to spend but in 12 months when it fills out and all the flowers come up it will look lovely.

No wonder he’s confused. Mind, without the pretend car and pretend purchase method we’d be in danger of a TV gardening show thread that didn’t touch on car finance. And we couldn’t have that.
Glad I’m not alone in wondering wtf with the paths! And I know you shouldn’t get too hung up on thinking of your home as an investment but that won’t have added £6k to the value of the house let alone £66k... you need to be confident you’re staying there a while to throw that kind of money away!

She's nice. I think she is a good presenter too and I like the programme. With regards the paths it's something I've also seen on Garden Rescue. It was called "hoggin" when I studied garden design with the RHS. I think it's horrible. But I've never really like the approach to paths in TV garden design programmes. For me, paths should enable you to walk as easily as possible around as much of your garden as possible on a reasonably dry day whilst wearing a pair of slippers. Whilst I love plants and the natural look the most important thing for most people is that the garden is practical and easy to look after. The £66k one was nothing like that. I liked the earlier one with the view across the fields but even that went a bit wrong at the end near the field. I'd have liked another easy to use formal path along there so you could do a lap around the perimeter of the garden in aforementioned slippers.

She doesn't do it for me at all, I think she's too loud and overbearing for that sort of programme. You need a Kevin McCloud type of presenter who knows a bit about the subject but comes across on a personal level with the couple involved.

Kevin mcloud is so far up his own backside, I’m surprised he can see anything! You need a Kevin McCloud type of presenter who knows a bit about the subject but comes across on a personal level with the couple involved.
