I've done some shopping around and it doesn't look like much can be saved by ditching Bulb, so I'm sticking with them for the time being.

If anyone needs a referral code just let me know smile

So just have access to my new EDF tariffs, and they are slightlyy more expensive frown
However I suppose I was already on a a very cheap rate before.
Apparently the tariff end date is 2029 too.

Electricity unit rate: 13.83p per kWh (vs. 13.24p)
Daily standing charge: 22.77p per day (vs. 18.98p)

Gas unit rate: 2.334p per kWh (vs. 2.11p)
Daily standing charge: 21.53p per day (vs 20.94p)

Do you think these rates are ok?

My gas meter is also not showing any readings. Having trouble getting EDF to come out, and was told they will just go with estimated readings until the foreseable because of the pandemic eek

That's brilliant rates, especially from 20:30 to 00:30. EDF?

I just did a quick comparison on moneysupermarket, which is OFGEM approved, and for my usage can't find any cheaper.

The tariff end date states 31st Jan 2029 which I don't think is right, otherwise it's too good to be true to be locked at this rate until then?

Hi wondering if anyone can help me as trying to figure out if I can get a cheaper rate is just painful for me. About 6 months ago uSwitch told me I could save £15 a month, I did the switch on their website and it said 'congratulations you have saved -£1 per month' or something ridiculous so I cancelled. Anyway I'm currently with Bulb and they are putting up their rates as follows:

Gas - 2.961 per kWh and 25.158 standing charge

Elec - 18.9 per kWh and 20.328 standing charge

Any advice much appreciated, have already done the octopus referral bonus.

I'm paying £100 a month for duel fuel with Octopus. They've been really easy to deal with and notify you every month if you're under or over so you can easily plan. Ours has gone up £30 a month but we are both working from home full time. There's always an iDevice on charge, two TV's on, heating on, etc.

I was with E.ON previously but they were wanting to go from £70 a month to £146 without giving me the option to adjust my DD to what I thought was suitable despite me regularly paying off large sums on a frequent basis. I paid £250 one month then they wanted more 2 months later and then I had to pay another large sum to finalise the account when I said enough was enough. I'd never use them again. Octopus have been great and transparent from the get go. They even suggested I up my payments but didn't force me and didn't put stipulations on what I needed to adjust the value to so I decided to up them to £100 to cover the extra energy we are using.

I had an issue with British Gas which wasn't cost related but I won't ever use them. I bought a new build house in 2015 and changed to my own supplier when I moved in. The builder agreed (verbally) to inform BG of what they had used up until the point I moved in. I naively trusted them to do this. I had zero correspondence with BG about it and happily went about my business until I got a letter 3 years later from a debt collection service wanting money for the period the house was built until I moved in. They lied about trying to contact me about it. Anyway, not that relevant and I should have notified them myself in writing but you live and learn. A costly mistake but something to be aware of if ethics and good business practices are high on your priority list when choosing a supplier.

Doesn't sound much like BG's fault to be honest, they wanted paying for the electric used by your house and you were the first person to be registered as living there.

I think you've missed the point. They never sent any correspondence in over 3 years so I never knew they hadn't been paid. I only discovered they hadn't been paid when I got a letter from a debt collector. Had they actually contacted me, it could have been sorted out there and then, they didn't and the debt collectors letter stated that BG had tried to contact me on several occasions. This was a complete fabrication.

No contact from EDF since 3rd March here, had been meaning to give them a kick, but if you only just got this I'll wait a bit longer, especially if I can lock rates to 2029 hehe I'm sure they'll correct that soon!

There is a back billing limit in these circumstances of 12 months

Yes I'd be taking issue with the builder on that one.

Yes I did. The site foreman who I talked to had long since left and as it was verbal, there was no record of any agreement. That's my fault for being too trusting and for not checking with BG that the account was terminated but it still annoyed me that they didn't get in touch. They just waited a few years then sent in a debt collector with a threatening letter.

This thread jogged my memory that I need properly read the new pricing email I received from Bulb.

I've put in for a switch to Blue Planet, which will hopefully save a few quid.

Will be interesting to see if my Smart Meter (smets2) works after the transfer. For the last 9 months it's only worked for gas (Bulb utterly useless in trying to resolve) so not too much to loose!

Trust Pilot reviews for Blue Planet look very good. They're pretty dire for Bulb!

I'd check your emails Crafty. The first email mentioned a welcome pack but nothing in the post. I got a second email two weeks ago which contains details for me to register for online account. My tariff only started to show today online.

Initially a bit miffed as prices were a little higher even though in the welcome email it was mentioned that it would be cheaper. However after comparing prices I believe this is as cheap as it gets.

Just received the email from Bulb to inform me they are yet again putting prices up....
They are saying based on my usage I will (from October 1) be spending an extra £1.40 a week on energy

We're increasing our electricity day unit rate from 20.228p to 22.580p per kWh and our night unit rate from 13.178p to 14.706p per kWh. Our electricity standing charge is increasing from 23.683p to 24.189p per day.

We're increasing our gas unit rate from 3.420p to 4.167p per kWh and standing charge from 25.683p to 26.112p per day.

These prices all include VAT at 5%.

Same, an extra £6.11 per month.
