Around here it seems a lot of these full developments are being bought entirely for social housing

Some people like the idea of living in a flat with a Tesco express down stairs and a train station opposite because it means they don’t need a car. I couldn’t think of much worse but each to their own.

At least they are corralled in one place.

Some time ago, I was speaking to someone who was renting a "luxury apartment" in Nottingham and empty adjacent apartments were being let to benefit claimants. Apparently the corridors had become playgrounds for toddlers with full nappies on their various bikes, trikes and other wheeled toys.

The town I live in there are loads going up but they are generally smaller blocks with <20 units and never more than 3 floors high, also they seem to be cladding free (to my untrained eye) so perhaps that makes the sale easier?

They are always cheaper than houses so ideal for first time buyers and investors. If the price is less than a house then will there always be some demand assuming there is no dodgy cladding?
