Not the usual noise though!

We live fairly close to a level crossing and consequently a train line. Our house builder went to some lengths to provide excellent sound proofing with triple glazing, careful detailing and special acoustic trickle vents.

That's all fine until it gets warm and we want to open a window...

The backup plan if the noise is an issue is to install a small wall mount ac unit. The only sensible wall backs onto the railway line. I'm a bit wary of introducing a route for noise to pass into the bedroom. Can anyone comment?

As long as the hole through the wall for the refrigerant lines is properly sealed up and finished with acoustic mastic, it’ll be fine.
