How are you getting on with your Hypnos mattress Matt?

Just found this thread which is good timing as we are thinking of buying a Hypnos mattress.

Having always wanted a Hypnos bed, my opinion of them was tainted somewhat today...

The wife and I both took the afternoon off work today having decided to drive the 45mins to their showroom on Station Road, Castle Donington to choose & buy a mattress, otterman base and headboard. I checked the address on their website and phoned the number displayed, asked if I was through to the showroom on Station Rd, which they confirmed, and they confirmed they close at 5pm. I told them I'd be with them about 1:30pm, and then set off. All good and I was quite excited.

On arrival we couldn't get in, and a lady came out to explain the showroom had closed down, no longer in business. I explained my phone call earlier which bemused her. I phoned the same number again and discussed my problem with the lady who answered, only to learn that the showroom has closed down and calls to that number are now being diverted to their Buckingham showroom. However this isn't made clear when phoning them. They at least should put a message saying your call is being diverted, to give callers a clue. Why did she confirm initially that I had called the Station Road showroom? I have no idea!!

So we drove the 45 mins back home, empty handed.

Sorry I missed this Big Stevie.

Yeah it’s still comfy, not sure it’s worth the thousands we spent on it but no regrets on buying it. The ottoman storage was well worth the money though.

Finally purchased our Hypnos bed & mattress today.

Went into Furniture Village just to have a look and with the intention of then buying from an independent retailer. However the experience of visiting a chain store wasn't what I had feared, in a good way. The sales guy was really good, not forceful, engaged with me only when requested and was really helpful. I returned later in the afternoon with the wife and saw the same guy, she liked the same mattress as I did, and we purchased there and then which we don't normally do. Helped by the fact he gave us their sale prices even though their sale doesn't start until April.

I went for their Hypnos Bespoke Grandeur super kingsize 'zip & link' mattresses, both in firm tension. I took a tape measure and this was a much deeper/thicker mattress than many others I had looked at including Vispring priced equivalent...

Hypnos divan with hideaway storage (flaps of fabric covering the storage access, instead of drawers) in Royal Navy fabric..

Also went with a Hypnos Riley floor standing headboard in Royal Navy fabric.

The Bespoke Grandeur is unique to Furniture Village, which initially I didn't like as it makes it hard to compare with others in the Hypnos range, but having studied the spec I was happy.

Came to about £4,400 and we got a few extras thrown in including a Hypnos duvet, mattress protector, 5yr protection plan (which I don't normally go for) and two Hypnos pillows at half price, and I shoved it on 0% finance so I can keep the money invested in Premium Bonds a bit longer. 6 week delivery, can't wait to receive it.

How come you went with a zip and link mattress if both sides are the same firmness?

Sorry, I'd been reading lots of other members threads and posts on mattresses as part of my research, but send me a photo of her and I might be interested smile

Basically to get it up the stairs, we struggled to get our current super kingsize mattress up stairs and had to bend it, this new one is much thicker and I didn't want it bending. Also give flexibility if we ever want to use any of them as singles in the future, such as if the wife divorces me biggrin

My mrs says one of my worst qualities is that I don’t plan ahead properly. Next mattress time, I’ll definitely suggest a zip and link and then use this line on her if she asks why. LOL,

Ha ha, I did jokingly tell the salesman that it was for when we divorce biggrin But being realistic, if ever that happened and she wanted half of everything, well she can happily have half the bed seeing as I think the base comes in two halves too (I'm keeping the duvet though!).
