I had an indesit washer / drier combo in my old house we never used the drier because it was crap.

Came home one day and you could smell that the clothes in the machine were hot, you could not touch the glass on the door so I switched it off and called them out (still under warranty) the tech said basically due to poor design and a certain failing of a component the drier element becomes energised and just keeps going till it burns out / catches fire / trips electric.

After months of being hassled by them I finally gave in to EON and had a smart meter fitted two weeks ago.
It’s the SmartView2 and it has now frozen.
I can’t reset it so have unplugged it to see what happens when the battery drains.
I have asked EON if I can either have a new meter or to stop using one altogether.
Anyone else had problems with this meter?

The meter will be fine, I should think. The SmartView2 is the in home display for it. I don’t have that one, but my display crashes from time to time - a reset sorts it out. You may be able to remove the batteries to speed up the process.

Many thanks for that.I thought it was a sealed unit.I have removed and refitted the battery and it appears to be working again.

Cool, glad it worked. I googled the model, and it does sound like it has a habit of freezing and crashing, so you might well find you’re doing this semi-regularly!

It won’t impact the sending of your readings to the energy company, but the in home display is a nice to have given you’ve got a smart meter. If it crashes too often, badger your energy company for a replacement in the hope you get something better.

Thanks again.
I’ve emailed the company to ask for a replacement even though all seems to be fine now.
Now I know what to do I’ll keep an eye on things but some people may struggle with the thing such as fiddling with the battery.
Modern life and all that eh!
