I would recommend rat poison, that'll get rid of the problem. OP, rather than bird seed, put it in your breakfast cereal.

Its a good job lovable Pheasant & Partridge aren't killed between, say, September through to Feb every year, jeez

You know, for example, by employing people to drive them from their little nests making them fly right over, possibly, a group of blokes with, say, shotguns ready to blast them out of the sky

And can you imagine the inhumanity if some monster trained a lovable pet dog to run after these poor shot birds and bite them while bringing them back to their despicable owner?

Thank God that could never happen here, probably goes on in depraved countries like Spain, France or some such......think of the frogs and snails!

Funny how anything to do with animal control or culling flushes out the nutters.
Well, look at you, lol.
Indeed, it also flushes out all the prats who think that everything should be for their own personal convenience. Not something we have a shortage of on Pistonheads.

Three months? I joined in about 2009 but lost my login details a few months ago, so I started a new account.

There are multiple issues, each with a legal and ethical question. Is it OK to kill wildlife? Is it OK to do it to this species? Is it OK to do it for this reason? Is it OK to do it with this method?

You don’t need to be a vegan bunny hugger to not answer yes to all of those, and the legal side is quite clear cut.

Killing corvids within the law as a last resort I can accept. Putting out poisoned birdseed is inexcusable.

Doesn't it just
they walk amongst us, unseen for weeks and then
Speckled Jim feeds them at night and they're everywhere

I would have thought a decent local pest expert would be the way forward and from my limited knowledge I think they tend to use birds of prey to persuade the covids to move somewhere else
Good luck...
The Government should have tried this back at the start of last year, might have saved us a whole load of hassle...

4 am- daybreak every morning for the last week, hoards of crows attacking the windows!

These suckers are giving it hell, waking up the whole household and making quite a mess of the window sills as well as smearing the glass itself.

Google tells me, they see themselves in the reflection and try to fight the 'other' bird. Closing curtains does not help

What can I do?!
Poison? tried some rat poison mixed with bird seed on a couple of window ledges but to no avail.

Any help gratefully appreciated
Christ on a bike, words fail me.....!!!

Go and give your head a massive wobble and sit in a dark room, I'm amazed that an adult human being would admit/write something like this on a public forum.

OP - why don't you just put bird spikes on the window cills to stop them from alighting there?

that's probably the next move

I was just hoping for an more expeditious solution. lots of windows and it'll look horrible

basically i want the crows to move out. we were so lucky in that we used to have loads of birds of every different type around, encouraged and fed by my wife and kids. But they have all been scared away and all we have left are these bruisers that are pissing everyone off

Seeing as you're such a lover of small birds, did you put a sign saying crows only on the rat poison seed mix?

45 million game birds released every year. 15 million shot. What do you think happens to the rest?

no you goon
the poison was placed on one window ledge which has only every been seen to have crows doing the fandango on

the now exiled other birds have access to any number of bird feeders

Don't think I'm the goon here, you have 'any number of bird feeders' about the place then complain about birds.

Crows are clever animals, they're probably looking for the source of all this food.

Live their lives terrified and always looking over their shoulder in fear that they have a 1 in 3 chance of living to see another day?

This abominable practice needs stopping now!

How would you feel knowing you faced death half the year?
