Whats your definition of a pest? We share this planet with all species, why do you think that we should kill things because they are inconvenient?
I hate to break it to you but realistically humans are the pests. Eveything else is balanced in nature, you don't see animals destryong the environment that they live in.
Its extremely arrogant to think we can lord it over the natural world with delusions of superiority
Woah! Of course you see animals destroying the environment they live in. Typically when they aren't it is because they are being husbanded by humans.

Have you never heard of plagues for starters?

Animals regularly change the environment and eradicate other species. I mean just look at the global habitats that get created by one species to the detriment of others.

Animals have been sending each other extinct since the dawn of time. They've been shaping, destroying and changing habitats since the dawn of time. Every species on the planet is living to dominate its surroundings to the detriment of all other animals. And once they do dominate they over breed until they starve and die of disease or another animals appears to harvest them.

Let's just get things in focus and have some common sense because statements like 'you don't see animals destroying the environment' is complete and utter tosh.

There is absolutely no balance in nature. That's the hippy trippy bks of the uneducated and witless. There is barely a corner of the planet that hasn't been shaped and isn't being reshaped by the dominant animal at that moment in time. It is a perpetual flux. Balance is a man made scenario and even that isn't a balance but a stalling of the inevitable change.

Animals are complete s like humans. We're just better at it.
Of course they're balance in nature. Some win and some loose but the waste is biodegradable. In otherwords they're akin with the natural order. We're the stupid s abusing our planet and leaving a mess for the next generation to deal with. That's if we can get them off their effing smart 5 G phones. Evolution is part of things that happen but wer'e a fking disgrace and most are to dumb to realise it. This planet would be very happy if there were millions less people on it all consuming like crazy.

We too are part of the balance.

And will reach a level of equilibrium or die away just like everything else.

The one thing we are not going to do is 'destroy the planet'

No there aren’t. Crows tend to go for dead animals.

We're certainly doing a good job of fking things up though. Where that will end, who know's but it'll be other things paying the price of our stupidity. I wonder how much plastic is inside each of us? Has anybody bothered to look?

Yes they do, if you did a little research you might open your eyes.

I suppose its inevitable. Humans are animals after all, and when it comes right down to it, we don't actually really care about anyone but ourselves and our immediate tribe.

Sticks.

Came up in conversation recently - what do you call a rook on its own? A crow.

I'd check that out before disputing it.

I take it if your house was infested by rats or mice you would just put up with it?
We had a mouse doing the rounds in the house,I just put a humane trap with peanut butter down and then sealed all the entrances to eliminate the risk of recurrence, after reading this, I realise the solution should have included dynamite and cyanide.

Well yes they do do it but no it’s not a significant problem for sheep farmers (of which there are many in my area).

Farmers have been known to exaggerate an issue in order to justify their actions.

We had a crow 'problem' last year. It started sometime around mid/end May and continued to around August I think, always around 4am-6am. Luckily, (fingers crossed) it's not been back so far this year.

I started a thread on it https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&... if you're interested, but the main 'deterrent' was black weed membrane taped to the bottom metre of the downstairs windows that we put up each evening and took down each morning, and a scarecrow. We found that the scarecrow did the job at the back of the house so ended up with the membrane just round the sides and front.

We did try taping photos of owls to the insides of windows but the crows went mental. Far from deterring them, it made the problem 10 times worse!

Anyway OP, there is hope beyond killing the buggers
