Another vote here for Jarvis.

I went for black ply/ black legs/casters and the upgraded memory unit / tall legs. Also the biggest top you can get.

It is paired with a Herman Miller Aeron (Size C) PostureFit chair, and it gets the seal of approval from my dogs.

My office also has a nice yellow Ikea Poang chair with footstool for when I just want to do some admin on the laptop, so I've covered sitting, standing and reclining, all in one... smile

49" ultrawide monitor, I just need to do a little more cable tidying - but the first Jarvis desktop was delivered with a slight damaged corner, so I had to take it apart and fit it to a new one (they sent it with no quibble, and I've kept the one which had the tinest bit of damage)

And a decent solid wood kitchen worktop, cut to size.
Have you got experience of hairpin legs on a desk? They look a little flimsy for the height to me.

I went with a wall to wall length of 80cm deep, 25mm thick solid oak worktop. It’s 2.3m wide, and fixed to battens on 3 sides there’s no sag and very little bounce when you type. I think I paid about £200 for the worktop, pre-oiled and cut to length, so far more economical than a ready made desk. Here’s a work in progress shot:

Similar, but used 3 Ikea drawers spread out over 2.3m. Works well, although I would have liked it a little deeper in hindsight. Having said that due to home working I suddenly had to share with the wife, which meant an extra work position. That extra depth would have caused an issue!

I ordered a dark butcher block kitchen work top from ebay, and used besta cupboards from ikea as stands. Looks very new york coffee shop.

Budget solution :
A pair of IKEA adjustable trestle legs and a standard flush door from B+Q as a top.

Can be tilted when doing watercolours or flat when used with my laptop.
We use these, its cheap and it can probably do nearly standing height. Mine is tilted slightly which is handy.

It's a tip but I'm a messy worker.

At home, I have 2x 27" side by side, but the curved 49" is actually a far better prospect.

You don't put single windows up to cover the whole thing, but use Microsoft Powertoys to create screen zones which windows 'snap' into, so you can easily have 3 decent sized windows side by side...

Totally. So it is a serviced office in a converted Grade II listed pub. Not in my house, so I wanted a position I could easily defend wink

I've been debating the 49 thing, but at the moment I have two 27-inch 4KUHD monitors, and I think I'd miss the pixels. I use DisplayFusion to do similar things with windows.

My 27" screens are 2560 x 1440 resolution, so the 49" screen I have (5180 x 1440) is exactly the same pixel count...

I was using an old MFI desk we got in the early 90's, which funnily enough wasn't really cutting it for spending 8+ hours a day at. I'd got the comfy chair (SecretLab Titan), but sadly the desk was on the small side so I managed to aggrivate an old rib injury sitting at it. Got a stipend from work for Home Office kit, so got myself one of these:

Loads of room for storage - got my PC and Mini Server each side of me, with lots of room for other stuff - and is wide enough for 3 24" monitors. As it's a gaming desk it does come with an LED light strip, which I quite like as it saves eye strain later at night - but you don't have to fit it if you don't want. Was fairly easy to build, and can sit at it all day with no complaints.

so I ended up with one of these

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B089NL9MH2/ref...

dual motor, memory, lovely bamboo top. Although it was £389. Great quality, stable, quiet.

I did like the 'fully' one however it was basically about double the price for the same spec.
